Varka doesn’t quite choke on his own saliva, but it’s a close thing. “Fifty what now?”
“Oh, don’t be like that,” Dori scolds with a shake of her head. “Anyone else would be asking for much more – it’s not every day you stumble upon a book this old and this useful too! A guide to courting for, ah, individuals specific to Nod-Krai and Snezhnaya? It’s practically a trove of information, Sir Varka! Really now, it’s only because you’re my most loyal, most esteemed, most valuable customer that I can afford naming such a low price.”
Or: Varka gets swindled into buying a Fae courting guide, written by a human for other humans. He's also forced to come to terms with his own feelings regarding a certain Lightkeeper (who might or might not be Fae). Shenanigans ensue as he attempts to follow this dubious yet somehow effective guide to the very end.

It keeps drifting, circling back to the same thing. It keeps treacherously and infuriatingly going to Neuvillette.
It starts with his scent, as it always does.
Even here, deep beneath the waters of Fontaine, surrounded by steel, seawater and the pressure of the waters that threaten to crush the Fortress itself, his memory recalls that sweet petrichor; clean and refreshing, and beneath it, the faint aroma of rainbow rose.
In the wake of a particularly intense rut, Wriothesley accidentally leaves his heart in Neuvillette's office.

It’s late enough that Childe doesn’t expect an answer until the morning, so he’s leaning over to put his phone away when three little dots appear at the bottom of his messages.
[Unknown Number]: Ah, apologies. I was intending to text my wife.
Childe squints at his screen. Wouldn’t the dude know their wife’s phone number? Childe’s about to respond when those dots reappear, another reply cycling.
[Unknown Number]: She passed away quite some time ago, and this was her number. I text it every year, but it seems as though there is finally someone on the other end. It wasn’t my intention to bother you, so, again, apologies.
Well, that took a turn.
While on an ad campaign in Liyue, an aging model named Childe gets a text message from a widower, wishing his dead wife a happy holiday. Lonely himself, Childe strikes up a conversation--will it lead to love?

Summary

Miraculously, he manages to break through the hypnosis, but the monster continues to torment him to the verge of insanity. The next time they meet face to face, the siren, who introduces himself as Neuvillette, insists that the entire situation has been a misunderstanding and even has the nerve to suggest they should become friends! With the horrors he put him through?! Absurd!
With all that said... life on a desolate island does get a bit lonely at times, and it seems that Neuvillette is able to relate to that notion more than anyone. Slowly but surely, Wriothesley finds himself drawn to the siren's charm more and more, and their unprecedented relationship might just end up being the key to dealing with some of his past regrets. Wriothesley sat on the bed, thankfully looking unharmed and healthy. But atop his head, were horns. Long and curling inwards majestically, blood-red at the base, turning an icy blue towards the tips. His icy blue pupils were now slitted like Neuvillette's, and his ears had become pointed. His nails had turned into sharp claws, black at the tip. Last but not least, growing from the small of his back, resting lazily on the bed beside him was a tail .
A beautiful tail made of white scales and fins like ice.
A dragon, supplied Neuvillette's mind. But how... how was that possible?! And not any dragon; the elemental energy exuding from Wriothesley was on par with his own, oddly similar to... A Sovereign.

“Neuvillette!!” exclaims Wriothesley in a panic.
His panic only grows when he realizes that Neuvillette passed out. “Shit. Fuck,” seethes Wriothesley.
