She leaned her head against his chest, listening to the sound of his heart pounding beneath her cheek. She wanted to memorise the feeling, the sound, in case the mission went sideways. She hated herself for what she was about to ask him to do. “Ar isalan na to gara galin tor vis min goes telam.” I need you to get everyone out if this goes wrong.

I really wanted to expand on the feeling of regrets and how Solas uses that to manipulate Rook into taking his place. The consequences of Rook's choices will be featured and explored. I intend to recount the game and fill in some gaps, reintroduce lore from the old games and add scenes I thought were missing, like breaks after major missions (HELLO, ROMANCED COMPANION DURING PRISON OF REGRETS). It's as lore-accurate as possible to the old games, but I have taken some liberties. Characters from old games will have bigger roles to play. Rated E for eventual smut.

More darkspawn showed up. It happened fast then. A bite to her leg. One tackle to the ground. She reached for the lightning flask on her hip, but it was knocked out of her hand. Darkspawn blood from that bleeding arm in her eyes and mouth. It tasted like hatred. She screamed.
She was dead.
Only a deep growl and a screech. The thudding of bodies falling and cry of victory. The teeth and claws stopped rending her flesh. The darkspawn dead or scattered. Strong arms lifting her in the air. She started to shake. Her lungs burned. She couldn’t feel her hands or feet.
“I’ve got you. Hang on.”

“That was fun. Maybe we should go again.” he breathes, his eyes alight with a very different idea of fun.
And Rook is tempted. To say the very least. She gives herself away the moment her traitorous eyes dip to his mouth.
“Look, Davrin…” She slinks underneath his arm, but he just lifts an eyebrow, intrigued—and somehow even that small movement sends her heart stuttering. She lets out another of those strangled laughs and tries to cover it with a cough. Judging by the glint in his eye, she’s unsuccessful. “This…it’s a bad idea.”
“I think it’s smart to keep up your skills,” he wears a smug grin. “Necessary.” The kind that says he knows that’s not what she’s talking about. She gives him a look that says as much.
“Davrin,” she warns.
“We haven’t done anything else,” one eyebrow flicks up as his eyes rake over her sweat-slicked body. She runs her tongue over her teeth to try to keep in the promising shiver that runs down her spine.
“And it should stay that way.”TL;DR Davrin and (f!)Rook try to keep it casual and fail spectacularly.
