“What?” the omega’s lips curled into an annoying shape Harry wished to smack. “Can’t believe that helpless little omegas can hold more power than you?”
“They can’t,” Harry replied without a second though before he channelled his wolf and made him rumble from the depths of his chest, aiming for the omega to bow in front of him. This never failed him once. Omegas were mentally weak. It was why the kidnapping was still a thing – because they couldn’t help but submit the moment alphas told them to.
Except this time, it seemed.
Because unlike all the other tries, the omega’s eyes flashed with a warm, darker shade of blue for just a second – before turning back to icy cold with new force. His features hardened as he stepped closer and clasped his fingers around Harry’s neck.
“If you ever do this again,” he rasped, putting pressure on Harry’s veins, “I’ll kill all of your precious apprentices and make you watch, do you understand?”

He looked up from the picture, his breath hoarse and shaky, his skin now glistening with the moist of perspiration.
“Did you lie to me?”
Harry didn’t know what to reply. Louis has already known–
“Did you lie to me about me being just your job?” he let the folder fall to the ground and raised the colourful picture up in his trembling fingers.
“Answer me! Was this just your job?!”
Harry’s heart once again set itself for a run. He inhaled slowly, carefully looking at Louis, not even mad about all his sketches now scattered over the floor. And then, when he felt ready: “No.” he breathed, unsure of what’s to come. “No, you were never just that.”

Harry can paint. Louis can't know. And the only thing they share is that sea is the culprit of all their problems. -

...
It was the way he suddenly regretted letting the waves swallow it when Louis wasn’t looking, the way he couldn’t bear the heaviness of his wish ever being fullfilled.

“I... I think I should go,” Louis brushed past her to the wall of washing machines and in despair almost glued his nose to the glass of that one moving drum, trying to push some buttons to make the damn machine stop.
“Pff,” she puffed out in disappointment, “you should already know it doesn’t work like this,” she crossed her arms over her chest, threw her head back and looked up to the ceiling as if bored.
Apart from several large, long flat lights (which were bathing the room in a yellow beam), there was a blade fan there. Louis just noticed it moving.
“It won’t stop turning until it’s all clean.”

She petted his cheek, as if she wanted to distract him and forget. "Future is not set in stone, brother. You know that, right?"
He hated when she did this. "Please. It was about me, wasn't it?"
She bit her lip thoughtfully. "You don't have to know, ok?"
"But I want to!" He squeezed her wrist.
Due to wind, she finally noticed the tears and wiped them off, closing her eyes defeatedly before she looked back at Harry. "Just tell me this. If you could choose, would you rather live through something wonderful - but shortly and for it to end up bad, or have a long, happy life - only never really reaching the wonder?"
Harry made a confused face at first. But then, he said (as if he didn't even have to think about it): "The first option! Wonders are precious. They are worthy of sacrifice."
Gemma smiled sadly, reflections of flames dancing in her glassy eyes. "Hm. Why did I even ask?"
She swallowed the words about how it was not very wise to choose that possibility if one did not know about what was at stake.

He swallowed, putting the empty cup back onto the table and looking into the black night behind the window. The strange stillness of China Town red neons glowing faintly outside made goosebumps rise on the back of his neck as he imagined all the worst possible scenarios behind his date’s delay.
Mafia boss’ lost phones found ringing in freezers. Weird parallel mirror reality matrix. Or just the need to save a bleeding underage prostitute... Well. Anything was possible, he thought, finding the: "Something’s up, can’t make it on time. Please, wait for me, I’ll explain." in his phone again and reading it for at least a hundredth time.
He had no clue if the guy that texted him that they can meet in this non-stop place three hours prior was the kind of guy who always attracts troubles. He felt like it, though.
Too bad he was also the one who attracted Harry.
