When you're torn between duty and desire, the right thing would be to choose duty. The problem is…for the first time, Prowl is contemplating choosing desire.

But as a mech shows up, seeming to fit the evidence perfectly, and layers upon layers of the case unravel, Prowl can't help but feel like something is going very wrong. There is a rot at the foundation of their society, and the hollow space it leaves behind allows even worse things to fester and grow. Jazz has to prove he didn't murder anyone, Prowl has to stop Jazz from running away, and the two have work together to solve the mystery.

Deadlock is going to end the war.
Not because of any recently developed deep moral conviction against killing other mechs. Rather, from an outside perspective it’s starting to look like Ratchet might actually explode—like a ticking guilt bomb—if even one more mech dies in his med bay. And decidedly, if Deadlock is able to surmise this from the corner of the med bay they have shoved him in, Ratchet must be barely hanging on by a thread. And Deadlock has unfortunately come to the realisation that his world might truly collapse if Ratchet dies.
The solution is obvious:
Deadlock is going to kill Megatron.

Summary
Meister really needs the reigning Prime's personal enforcer to stop thwarting his badly thought out murder plans. Don't worry about the upholstery; he'll make sure everything looks just as neat and dull as it did before.
Meanwhile, Prowl's helmache is only getting worse. Between the unsettlingly charming and kind of feral assassin that seems to appear out of thin air and the childish Prime that thinks the assassination attempts are funny, being stabbed is apparently the least of his concerns. If the assassin were one of his own agents, Prowl would surely deliver a stern lecture on discretion and the imprudence of engaging in bets with a success rate lower than twenty percent. At this point, Prowl wasn't even sure if he was trying.
Trying his patience though? Definitely.
