On September 2nd, 2022, Oscar was announced as Lando’s new teammate. Lando would be a liar if he said he hadn’t heard of the boy before Zak approached him about signing the Aussie on board. In fact, he had been aware of him for quite some time. He knew of his impressive junior career and had caught glimpses of him back when Max was still racing. Back when they were all just kids dreaming of the roar of F1 engines.
But now, here they were, and Oscar was no kid anymore.

Oscar didn’t answer at once, letting the word cracked in his chest. He bought a second by picking up the nearest bottle, opening it because his hands needed something to do, and then setting it down again. “Friends?”
“Pals. Good buddies,” Lando said, lighter, almost teasing, like the tone could carry the meaning across without hurting either of them.
“Yeah,” Oscar said. He made his mouth find the tilt that sold it. “Just friends.”
When Lando first saw Oscar in his navy puffer jacker and backpack at 6AM under the fluorescents of the McLaren Technology Centre, he'd never thought a rookie, in two years, could wrecking him on track physically and emotionally. 2023 Oscar was harmless, 2024 Oscar proved himself, 2025 sees Oscar as a pitfall in every sense of the meaning. Winter break was when everything began and burned down in the same month. They made a promise to keep whatever is between them offtrack in the 2025 season. The deal was necessary since it was the only way they could truely fight for the championship fairly, and the two idiots want that more than anything, maybe even more than each other.
