Zuko searched the room, assessing the green residue the creature had left. "You said you think it's a spirit?" Zuko turned to face Akio again, who was shaking from fear. Zuko had tried to reassure her that the creature was no longer in the room, but it didn't help. It seemed like the being shook her to her core.
The girl nodded. "Ye-yes Fire Lord Zuko," she confirmed. Zuko thought over his options for a moment as he stared out the window. "If we're dealing with a spirit we need to inform the Avatar of this," he proclaimed.
Last he heard of Aang, he had been in Omashu. The Airbender had sent him a note a week prior saying that he was on some Avatar business in the city and would probably have to stay for a while. He hoped he was still there so the message could find him.Or

Zuko knew that joining the Avatar and his group would be hard. After all, he'd chased them around the world, found them in Ba Sing Se (on accident really), and ended up helping his sister almost end the existence of the Avatar itself. So...his chances really hadn't been that great in the first place. Honestly, why he'd thought it'd be easy, he really wasn't sure. Another bad idea to throw on the pile of Zuko's past. But hey, it wasn't all bad. He's...different now, at the very least. Now he just has to hope that means he's better too.

“A chicken.”
“Yes, for strength reasons," Azula said, examining her sharp fingernails. "It’s a form of advanced spiritual meditation.”

Deep in the depths of the Fire Nation's palace, Ozai and the Fire Sages (side note: that would be a sick band name) have unearthed a mysterious artifact, which fell from the sky many centuries ago. The accompanying scroll promises to grant those who complete a certain ritual total domination of the natural world. Obviously, Fire Lord Ozai completes the ritual with no hesitation.
Obviously, it swaps him with a chicken.
(The Ozai is a chicken and nothing changes AU, that nobody asked for but everyone deserves)

Something strange happened in the final fight between Fire Lord Ozai and the Avatar. The Avatar lost, and now the world is plunged into terrible chaos; the spirits appearing in the world, grant a chance to the only humble human who survived to his misfortune and disgrace. Zuko, who had become a human rod, bites his tongue hoping that all the bad things would end, however, when he opens his eyes again, he realizes where he is now.
And how his uncle is unable to successfully hide the tears that run down his face because of what happened just a few hours ago. The pain of the Agni Kai is still lingering.
But, for Zuko, the Crown Prince of the Fire Nation, this meant no more than his own rebirth. Now Zuko had the mission to save the world and with it, save his best friend, the Avatar in turn, the last Airbender: Aang. But to do so, he needed all the help he could get.
Who says spirits aren't compassionate? Zuko may find out what it means to be an Avatar, albeit in his own way.
