Humanity is gone.

However, as time progressed and the sea began rising again, these peaceful nations soon found themselves in a war for dwindling land. The Inklings, squid people who found the joys of artistry and color, and the Octolings, Octopus people who built and designed amazing contraptions, began to fight between each other.100 years later, Inkopolis square, built along the edge of the City Ruins, lives out in peace. The Inklings frolic and enjoy the life they now have thanks to their ancestors from 100 years ago. Two creatures are seen as the icons of the city, Pearl Hozuku the inkling and a curious octarian named Marina Ida.

She’s always dressed in the masculine uniform and the blue suits her, the pants tailored perfectly to make her legs look longer, especially with the addition of her pearlescent platform sneakers.
“I’m— I’m okay!” our protagonist says in return, stuttering a little in the face of this impossibly cool upperclassman. “Sorry for running into you, Senpai. My head was somewhere else, I guess…”
“Psh.” Pearl releases her to wave a hand. She bends down and begins to scoop up books. “Don’t worry about that. It takes two to tango, right?”

“Uhg, I think there was a power sur– AHg!” She started, before cutting herself off. Why did she sound like that? Her voice sounded higher. Her mouth felt different, like her teeth were in the wrong places. What was happening to her?"
While working late one night in the lab, an electrical storm causes one of Marinas machines to malfunction, somehow swapping her and Pearls brains. But the show must go on, as they say. While they work to put everything back in its rightful place, the two must also work to keep up appearances to the public while on live tv. Can they fix this before anyone catches on?

"Um. Please remember, I only started learning this yesterday!" Her tone bleeds apologia. "And it's also transposed from an entirely different culture. S-So if it doesn't sound perfect, don't think that I—"
Pearl interrupts by slamming a hand on the piano. Marina's cereal bowl twirls on its smooth foot.
"Hey, I didn't say make excuses. I said let's hear what ya got!" The pop princesses' golden eyes glint. They twirl their free hand in the air to pump up the crowd. "We don't have all night, 'Rina."
