It had started earlier that day. He’d known it would probably happen soon, but he’d never prepared himself for the eventuality of having to ask for help. The pain was like nothing he had ever experienced before as he lay on the floor of his office that night after everyone had gone home…breathing through the pain was no longer an option… He had long since removed his clothes, stripped down to his skin and sweating buckets. His body showed few signs …hence why he hadn’t cottoned on what was going on until it was much too late to do anything about it. He wished he had a supply of water where he could reach it, but he was in too much pain to retrieve it now.
He’d been able to convince himself earlier that he didn’t need his help…or anyone’s help for that matter…but the more the urge consumed him, the closer he got to reaching for that phone to call for help.
Stolas. He needed Stolas.

The night that Fizzarolli died, there were no explosions, no fireworks or flashing lights, no dramatic scenes that would later be re-enacted for the stage or screen. Blitzø wasn’t able to put his finger on it but the eerily silent way that Fizz died would be one of the reasons he struggled with his friend’s death for so long after. If Fizz had gone out in a tragic stage accident, trampled by mis-timed go-go dancers or a falling piano, the news of his friend’s death wouldn’t have sounded so fucking bizarre. Hell! Blitzø would’ve believed that Fizz died in a comical kitchen accident. But to know, or maybe-know-but-struggle-to-believe, that the one-and-only-Fizzarolli died silently in his sleep, well Blitzø thought this was the bullshitiest bullshit the universe had ever shit out.

Blitzø breathes in, and silently steps off the ledge without a hint of hesitation. Just a quiet drop, and a quieter crack as he hits the pavement. He doesn’t leave a note. Just an apartment with framed pictures and his face furiously scribbled out with black marker in every single one, like a vampire with a stake through the heart.
The thought propels Stolas off of the couch for the first time in three days, and he leaves without any idea as to where the fuck he is even going, just the uneasy certainty that Blitzø is somewhere, contemplating the irreversible.

Blitz spills over the sides of his cup when he pours the coffee pot. A little puddle forms on the counter but Blitz can't find the energy to clean it up, instead scooping ice out of the office's freezer and letting the cold bite his fingers. Cold is good. It shocks some of the numbness out of him, lets him tune into what the others are talking about. They have a hit on a more important target than usual, one with a security detail. Blitz curses himself for not checking the schedule for today himself. He's known today was coming. He always knows.
Blitz walks into the conference room, sipping his coffee, and stares dully at the whiteboard. He's supposed to come up with a plan, a strategy. Moxxie and Loona are arguing about whether it's better to be sneaky or to be fast, and then he hears his name, and the conversation tapers out. He blinks the room back into focus. Everyone is looking at him.
He clears his throat. "What?"
