Gwi-Ma was gone, a new Honmoon was created, and Zoey and Mira knew about her patterns. They knew about her, and they didn’t seem to hate her anymore, and there was no impending doom currently on her horizon. Which meant she would actually have to talk to the girls, and there were things that, at least for now, couldn’t be said.
Well. Shit. She kind of liked the impending doom better.

Knowing that she would die when they turned the Honmoon golden, Rumi didn’t see why she had to put Zoey and Mira through the pain of losing their omega. So she took the pills Celine gave her, and went to the appointments, and convinced the world she was a beta. The Honmoon has loved Rumi since the day she was born. It remembers circling her in blue light when Miyeong first held her in her arms. It knew at that moment that this beautiful, innocent child, born of love of one of its chosen and a demon, would either be its greatest downfall or its greatest strength. It hoped for the latter.
It was so glad it had been right about Rumi, that she had become its greatest strength. Not since the beginning had there been another with so much power over it, the blood diluted so much over the years. Even in her moment of deepest shame and guilt, the woman still had the strength and determination to make the world whole. Not the golden that Celine had hoped for, where nothing from the demon world would be able to come through, but something new, something that mirrored the new rainbow iridescence to Rumi’s patterns. Something better.

After losing to the Saja Boys at the Idol awards last year, breaking Huntr/x’s 5 year winning streak, the girls get a call from Bobby, their manager, during their 3 month summer hiatus telling them that famous reality tv show producer and host has been planning on having the group in one of her newest projects, ‘The Idol House’. They girls think this is a perfect opportunity for their leader and best friend, Rumi, to enjoy her break knowing that she’s pushed herself even harder after their big loss. So they all agree. What they didn’t know is that the group that they’d be sharing the villa with is none other than Saja Boys themselves.
They have no problem with them, honestly! It’s just that the amount of signings and events they’ve had together is unreal and after the Idol Awards they haven’t done one since, which makes it a bit awkward.
Hopefully this summer will bring the idols closer together again. Somehow.

The young Hunter had a barrier of her own, one that clashed with the Honmoon itself. It pained the Honmoon to feel the rejection from its favorite little Hunter. Despite always choosing three & caring for them all the same, this one was special. Yes. For it had gifted them their very life. This one cried with its power rooted deep within its very strings of existence. The connection was far stronger than any before her; & yet despite all that, she had bled. She bleeds, cries, & begs for the punishment of her creation. For allowing the gift the Honmoon gave her to be here this long.

But there’s still something bothering Zoey. She’s noticed the amount of calls Rumi’s been getting that the woman just glances at before ignoring it with a grimace. All of them coming from the same number. Mira’s noticed it as well. One morning they managed to catch a glimpse of the contact name but that only raised more questions than answers. Just what went on between mentor and adoptive daughter when Rumi went to see her after the disaster of the idol awards? They don’t get the chance to ask as Rumi has a realization of her own.

“No, Zoey, please! What’s wrong with Mira? What happened?” Rumi was shaking as Zoey’s gaze hardened.
“Like you don’t know,” Zoey scoffed. “Look for yourself.”
Zoey lifted her blood-stained hands from Mira’s chest to reveal four jagged claw marks through her flesh. Even from where Rumi was standing, she could tell the cuts were deep. The blood was so dark it looked black.
Like someone cut her strings, Rumi collapsed. “No, no, no. NO! Mira!” she cried. “Zo, what happened? Who did this?”
Zoey laughed, but, unlike her normal light giggle, this sound was dark and mirthless. “Look at your hands, Ru. You did.”

Or, Rumi has nightmares after sealing the Honmoon because sometimes the power of songs and friendship cannot fix years of trauma and conditioned self-hatred. Mira and Zoey are there to deal with the aftermath.

In the search for a way to stop them completely they find a book, written by an ancient huntress, that describes a way to reconnect a demon with his soul. They've struck gold. My own take on what if the Saja Boys get their much needed therapy, Rumi revealing her secret much early on, and what if both idol groups had one common enemy after all?
This fic is MAJORLY inspired by a reel over at Instagram courtesy of itznacchan (go follow her because her content is hilarious) where Bobby gives the Saja Boys therapy. Oh and there is an established homie relationship between Bobby and Baby (also inspired by a itznacchan reel) because her exploration of that dynamic is amazing (if I haven't said enough pls watch itznacchan's own what if reels about KDH, they're a ton of fun to listen to)

It had been a good few weeks since the Idol awards when Rumi had finally worked up the courage to explain everything to Mira and Zoey.
They of course, had been able to fit most of the puzzle together on their own though.
What with Rumi’s patterns, the discovery of her secret relationship with Jinu, the defeat of Gwi-ma, the sealing of the iris honmoon, and Rumi’s insistence that the Saja Boys stay at the Huntr/x tower while they settled back into mortal life, the two girls were able to quickly identify key points that they had previously overlooked in the ongoings of Rumi’s life.
Her aforementioned secret boyfriend, for example.
Jinu’s double crossing had been a shock to them both, of course. One moment they had been fighting for their lives against hordes of spindly black monsters on the catwalks of the arena, and the next they had both looked over their shoulders to find Rumi’s lips locked against her sworn enemy as his clawed fingers ran rampant through her wild hair.
There were certainly better ways to have broken it to them, Rumi had admitted sheepishly.

Rumi grew up thinking her patterns were a curse. Something to hate. Something to loathe. That it was something to hide until the Honmoon was finally gold. But what if she had someone to talk about it with? What if someone knew about her patterns during the events of the movie? Would things change? Stay the same?
