With a number of problems to deal with already, a new (and intriguing) addition to his parish is the last thing the Comte de Reynaud needs - and the foreign chocolaterie owner, who is rumoured to be atheistic, unmarried and strikingly beautiful, will be more trouble than he can possibly imagine.
Long fic, short chapters, a little bit of hurt and a lot of comfort.
2024 update: I originally wrote this fic over a very short period of time. Having now gone over and (hopefully) improved the overall work and added a lot of material, especially to the early chapters, as well as completing the epilogue, I'm happy to consider it finally finished. -

A tiny village. Where the center of it all is it’s square and the cafe. Nothing goes unnoticed, and whispers can set up your entire persona. For all my life I thought if I would ever make it to France it would be Nice, Arles, or Montpellier that I first visit. Not eastern France, somewhat close to Switzerland. The town is called Lansquenet. What I realized after leaving Berlin is that my French is not what it used to be. Even the basics sound horrible at the moment. I imagine I’ll be a stick in the mud anyhow to this village. Which I’m also not looking forward to. But anything is better than Berlin.
