He considered the lone bullet, mind flashing with scenarios of what would never come to be. What may have happened, a diverging branch snipped by Carl looking up, up, up, dirt on his brow, and Negan's name on his lips.
There is a certain relief to be found, even as he's cornered himself. One way forward, no way out. Carl's walked onto a tightrope, and it doesn't seem he'll get to step off any time soon.
He can worry later. Carl can reflect and agonize and search for the answers to why everything is the way it is, why his own group doesn't trust him- why even after he's saved their lives, it all might go sideways anyway- later.
Right now, he has a future to take care of.

He’s nodding even before she makes it to the end of the sentence, having read as much in her tense expression.
“Of course you don’t. Well, maybe I can be a little more of a pirate about things, just to make it make more sense,” Jod sighs, possibly a touch theatrically. “The truth is… as much as I want to leave this world far behind, I am not giving myself up to a suburban mom. Not letting myself fall quite that low.”
Fara’s eyebrows draw together in a frown of visible confusion at the words and… To tell the truth it’s good to see something other than abject fear on her face.
“Here’s what I need you to do first. Go upstairs, search your closet for something that has some color to it and if there’s any part of you that’s willing to do condemned man a favor, how about you make it a dress. Something… slinky,” he announces, unable to resist a smile at the idea. At the sheer unlikelihood of this cowed rule-follower even owning something that might fit the description…
“Have you gone mad?”
“Hard to say,” Jod comments, not willing to dismiss it out of hand.

Hajime and Nagito form a bond. Hajime finally beginning to heal, until that same phenomenon traps them all.
Tempers flare, everyone’s troubled pasts come back to haunt them.
Will they survive? Will they hold onto their sanity? And can they unravel the mystery of this occurrence?
