A story about Frey and Bado falling in love and struggling to be together despite a fear of social backlash due to the difference in their years.
This is a long one, full of humor, sweetness, tension, talking, and various characters interacting. It builds slowly and ends happy with a little peril in between.
EDIT 11/6/2020: This was my first complete work of fiction. It will always be special to me and I love it very much but there are some things I'd like to change and update throughout, now that I'm looking back at it from a perspective 6 years older and wiser. I'll be going through in the coming months and editing chapters. I'll leave change notes in the 'author's notes' sections of each chapter I alter. Thank you.
P.S.: I'm also taking out most of the illustrations for the time being because I'm interested in replacing them with updated versions.

As the points of those teeth shrank back to more gentle, rounded tips, he lost the wild, haggered look and the crows feet at the corners of his eyes began to look like the result of many smiles once more. Indeed, the time of the new moon, when he was fully a man and no trace of the monster showed, was the only time she saw him smile anymore. Even so, it was a smile that could only make her heart ache all the more... a sad, wistful smile heavy with the knowledge that by the first sliver of waxing crescent moon, his canines would grow sharp and his mind restless as he slowly lost the fight to the beast all over again.

Summary
Irene was certain she was meant to die.
She was supposed to have drowned in that river, yet by some miracle she had been saved and wound up awakening deep within Yokmir Forest's lake. Initially mistaken as the royal "Arthur" the town of Selphia had been waiting for, she's handed responsibilities she wanted absolutely nothing to do with. Lost in this new world, knowing next to nothing about it or how the magic works, she has her hands full- especially since she can't seem to find a way home. Her only real clues involve the strange boy at her side- one named Lest, who she bears a strong resemblance to, and the runes- whose light so resembled the one she saw during the accident.
Will she ever find a way home? And if not, can she really accept her new life in this place? Can she really leave behind everyone and everything she's ever known? It doesn't seem that easy. But with a certain silver-tongued guardian constantly causing mischief and messing with her heart, it might not be so difficult. She just wished things weren't so complicated, and that he could actually say what he meant most of the time. Their situations were quite similar after all, the two even having a name in common when speaking of their pasts.

Frey and Forte talk over lunch in the middle of a boss fight. At that point, it had been Forte who wanted to make a habit out of the whole monster-fighting thing.
But priorities are a funny thing, in that they can shift pretty quickly. So Frey decides to ask some of her fellow newcomers to town to go on adventures with her while dealing with the minor everyday weirdness of life in Selphia.
It really shouldn't have worked out so well.

The closer it gets the more Xiao Pai can make out detail, until she puts together the blonde, blues, and silver and realizes it’s Forte. Forte, patrolling out in the rain. Forte, without an umbrella or any sort of protection from the elements.
