Gaius ushers them in. “I was just gathering my things to come check in on you. How are you feeling?”
“Uh, headache. Deeply wrong.” And then Merlin adds offhandedly, “Oh, and like I’ve switched bodies with the Crown Prince of Camelot.”
Or: Merlin and Arthur accidentally swap bodies. This would be a great opportunity for Merlin to relish in making Arthur muck out the stables, if the prat hadn't also gotten Merlin's magic in the exchange.

“She looks great, doesn’t she?” Gwen said, seemingly coming out of smoke and shadow. Merlin agreed wordlessly with a nod. “Some people are just born to be queen,” Gwen continued.
“No?” Merlin tried to not sound too grossed out, poor Morgana.
Contrary to Merlin, Gwen was actually doing her job, filling up goblets, and handing them out to various nobles. “I hope so. One day.” Though it does not seem to stir her away from partaking in healthy gossip.
“Well, I would hate to be her,” Merlin exclaimed. “Who'd want to marry Arthur?” Gwen snorted at that.
Or, Merlin is born a girl. Some things change, while others stay the same.

The scent was even thicker now that they had arrived at the chambers, so thick the room was drowning in it.
“This isn’t a beta’s scent” Gwen murmured as she opened the door. Gaius was nowhere to be scene nor was there any ill patients.
The king of Camelot strolled towards the private room in the back. It had been merlin’s room since the younger man had traveled to the castle and it was also the source of the smell.
Did he have an omega in there?
Arthur opened the door without knocking and was met with an interesting sight. There was an omega in there but it wasn’t someone else warming Merlin’s bed.
“Merlin!” Gwen gasped as she joined her husband, he turned to see her eyes wide and mouth opened like an o at the sight in front on them.
And oh it was a sight.

Summary
It has been some time since Uther's death and magic is still forbidden in the Kingdom of Camelot.
After Merlin is forced to use his magic to save Gwen's life within the castle's very walls, Arthur finds evidence to convict an innocent woman of sorcery.
Gwen finds out that Merlin was the one responsible for the act that saved her, and offers to support Merlin, along with Lancelot and Gaius, in coming up with a way to help the wrongfully accused from meeting an undesirable fate.
When they can't think of a timely solution, Merlin forces it upon himself to take matters into his own hands and reveals his magic to Arthur.
Follow the story and watch it unravel as Arthur decides if he will follow the path of his father or become the once and future king Camelot deserves.

Summary
When Arthur was 12 he found a dragon under the castle. From that meeting he learned 3 things.
- He was the once and future king and bring back magic to the land as well as unite Albon
- He was to marry his true love as his queen (a lady from another kingdom he presumed) who would help in his journey
- A great and powerful warlock was also supposed to help him in that journey to the throne, named Emerys (who was also supposed to be his other side of the coin, whatever that meant)
While the first point seemed preposterous, there was a slight snag with those last two. The dragon never told him who those people were. So while expecting a powerful wizard with the strength of three men and lightning bending to their whim, and a beautiful Lady from another kingdom with their marriage bridging the gap between two kingdoms, he falls in love with two servants, nether named Emery's. How was he supposed to fall in love with his true loves if he’s already fallen for people he can’t have and never will have, not in the way he wants them.Aka the mergwenthur fic no one asked for
