Summary

the writing in this one is a little rocky but the story is still great! with a bit of editing and polishing, this could be the FBI AU we never knew we wanted. seriously, it has a lot of potential.

There was a split-second hesitation from Killua, so short Gon didn’t have a chance to register what that beat meant-

For 8 to 28 people, ages 10 and up, a game by Philippe des Pallières & Hervé Marly; les Loups-garous de Thiercelieux, or the Werewolves of Miller's Hollow in English, here played by the HxH crew.
They've tried reaching out to some higher, bigger entity to fix their problem, but all always say the same. The police, the FBI, the church, they all think they're insane. Though they say it in other words, call it a placebo effect, or mass hysteria. Always winds up to the same solution, which is to say none. The townspeople have taken matter into their own hands, laws be damned.

Gon plays rugby on the college team, and his skill on the field definitely has national recruiters eyeing him. But then he meets Killua in art class, and unsurprisingly, they hit off almost immediately. But Killua is closed off, friendly but excruciatingly private, and Gon can quickly sense that something is amiss. If only Killua would talk to him...
Killua is the latest in a long line of world-class gymnasts in the prodigal Zoldyck family. But since training under his father and brother takes up the majority of Killua's time, he can't see Gon too often - a pity, because he's discovered a passion in rugby (and in Gon himself, but that’s beside the point.)
But when Gon convinces Killua to play rugby, the lie of a world-class gymnast and a private family unravels. There's definitely a reason that Silva and Illumi hired in-house physicians, and the school's resident clinician, Leorio, is far from the type of person to let this lie. So he gives an ultimatum: if Killua wants to stay on the team, he has to pass a physical exam.
Only…there’s no way he can – not with his parents in the picture. But with Gon by his side?
...Maybe it's possible after all.

This same scenario has played out many times. So many times that their friends stopped acting surprised when they both had suddenly disappeared from the crowd in a dimly lit house during a party or when Zushi realized he was talking to a wall when he would catch a glimpse of Killua eyeing Gon across the kitchen, only for Gon to moments later mumble something about going to get another drink. Which is also why their friends stopped texting them wondering where they had gone.
