All that remained of its left eye was an empty socket, along with a marred fleshy scar. The skin surrounding the scar was especially discolored, gross yellows and pinks hugging the wound. Willow didn’t even process the words said to her, only focussed on eliminating the threat, and she had already hesitated long enough.
She raised her axe even higher, stepping forward and readying her swing, when it talked again.
“DUDE! I’m human! Human! Person! Do you speak English?!” It began crawling backwards on its hands, bumping into the far end wall, attempting to escape.
Finally Willow paused, simply staring at the creature in front of her.
The zombie was talking to her. Using words. They didn’t normally do that.
