Mark looked down at Tubbo as the older hugged his knees tightly to his chest. “I know this sounds silly but. . . do you— do you think that if I could talk to Dream, then I could convince him not to hurt anyone?” Tubbo asked, his voice soft but it sounded like he was on the brink of tears.
Mark felt his heart shatter. As much as Tubbo talked about how he hated Dream, Tubbo still wanted his big brother figure back.
As much as Mark wanted to feed Tubbo’s optimism, Mark knew he couldn’t. “I don’t know,” was all Mark could offer to Tubbo.

In which, Tommy and Tubbo’s celebration of coming out of hiding is put to a complete stop after it’s shortly revealed that Dream - their older brother figure and a dangerous villain - has broken out of Pandora’s Vault.
What is it that Dream wants? Tommy and Tubbo themselves.

He prided himself on how he could avoid both parties whenever they were wreaking havoc across the city. That in itself should be considered a super power.
Up until one late autumn night when he ends up catching an injured villain. Quite literally.
OR
Dream just wanted to go to college, hang out with his friends, and live his life to the best of his abilities. He wanted to stay as far removed from the super-powered population of the city as he could. It seems fate didn't care what he wanted and would drag him kicking and screaming into their midst.

But thanks to his stage fright he had been unable to do theatre. Now he was content to just sit on the sidelines. Or at least, he was pretty sure he was content.
Shelby nodded in response, noting Tommy’s reaction. Then she stared off into the distance, looking like an idea was forming inside her head. Then she abruptly spoke and ran off. “I need to go talk to Mr. Dream about something, and then go read the script. Buh bye!”

It's Tommy's second year of being in tech and third year in high school. He loves everything about technical theater, but a part of him still longs to be on the stage. If only it weren't for his very prevalent stage fright.

Wandering through the alleys at night, the midnight cold biting at sallow cheeks. He clings even tighter to the stained coat, shoes and socks drenched in puddles of rainwater. When George is offered a second chance at life, he can hardly resist.
Techno didn’t end up there by chance. He never gets anywhere by chance. It’s destiny. It always has been.
Tommy just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Tubbo is faced with a disturbing dilemma. Guards are not allowed to empathize with the players. No physical, no vocal interactions. But he throws his life on the line to protect one player.
Dream can't tell if the players are the victims, or if the guards are. Whatever the answer is, he's decided to take a risky route to freedom.
Ranboo feels conflicted with his forgotten past. He already knows he won't last long.

“No, Wilbur was influenced by me!” Which basically means, “Yes, obviously,” in Tommy-speak..
Now they just have to figure out how to balance streaming, making videos, school, and creating an EP. Oh. Sleeping and eating should probably go in that list somewhere, too.
Tubbo is currently having the time of his life. He’s got his @TubboLive Twitter open on his phone and @TheMultiplayers in an incognito window on his laptop. He may or may not have plans to turn this rivalry into an epic romance. When he’d told the others about it, Ranboo had sighed and said, “Of course you would start a slow burn, enemies-to-lovers Twitter relationship with yourself.”
“Would I though?” Jack asks, a grin spreading on his face once again. “You all have secret alt accounts on Twitch so you can watch streams without people knowing you’re there, right?”
“Yes, but Jack,” Tommy lets out an exasperated huff, “what does that have to do with-” “Lads,” Jack holds up a hand to stop Tommy. “Who do you think media-shared your first song to Wilbur in the first place?”.
“Fuck,” Wilbur sighs, sounding rather put-upon, “I should have fucking known, huh?” “I mean… we kept it a secret on purpose,” Tommy says. “I literally said that Tubbo sounds like Player-” Wilbur freezes, eyes going wide all over again. “Tubbo.” “Oh? Yes?”
“I don’t use Twitter but I have been told-” “Oh!” Tubbo can’t help but burst out laughing. Wilbur seems to be taking this well and the relief of that has left Tubbo feeling a bit hysterical, to be honest. “Yeah, I’ve been fighting with myself on Twitter.”
Techno answers the question too, this time. “I like all of them,” he says, “but the metaphors in Masked are pretty great.”
“What metaphors?” Ranboo asks.
Tubbo catches on immediately. “What’s a metaphor?”
“Tubbo, you have got to stop flirting with yourself on The Multiplayers Twitter account!” Oh fuck. Tommy hasn’t noticed that Phil is in the call. How the fuck hasn’t he noticed? Tubbo sits, frozen, as Tommy continues to ramble. “You accidentally signed off your last tweet as Player Three! I don’t want to flirt with you, full offence.”
They eventually get around to filming the mod video. Afterwards, Phil goes quiet for a second, then says, “Holy shit. Have you boys been messing with Techno about metaphors this entire time?”
Alright, if the others have both told at least one person, other than Jack, Wilbur, and Phil, then Tubbo gets to tell one person too. Who better than someone that he trusts? It’ll also help get Sapnap off his back. He appreciates the worry but it’s truly unnecessary.
“I- are you flirting with yourself on Twitter?”
The video is titled “Face Reveal!!!”
The cover that they do - because of course they’re actually going to cover the song, not just put the original into the video - is “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley.
People definitely think he’s dating Player one, now.
“Oh holy shit,” Sapnap subtly raises an eyebrow at Tubbo, who simply smiles wickedly at him and focuses back on the screen.
Jack and Sapnap have gravitated toward each other, knowing that they both already know what’s going on. Karl seems to have noticed their knowing looks because he’s slowly inching towards them as well, all the while not taking his eyes off of The Multiplayers.
The second he sees Ranboo walk into the room, Karl knows. Or, he thinks he knows. He’s pretty sure he’s right. And then they start grabbing instruments and his theory is all but confirmed. Only, there’s no way, right?Karl has been a fan for a long time. He’s always known how good The Multiplayers are, but seeing them in person, knowing who they are? It’s mind-blowing.
“Tubbo willingly flirting with someone other than Ranboo?” Jack points out.
Techno is gonna throttle three fucking children. Jesus fuck.
The three Players - these three fuckheads are The Multiplayers - go around introducing themselves, since there are definitely fans out there that won’t know who they are as Minecraft streamers.
Meanwhile, Technoblade books a plane ticket.
It only hits him after he’s done packing a suitcase that it was Wilbur singing with them. Wilbur is the collaboration on their EP.
Wilbur Soot was in on it.

Summary
The first time Tommy died, he was eleven, trapped in flames with his parents. The next time he died was three minutes later, in those same flames. It didn't take him long to figure out that his deaths were like resets- chances to fix whatever killed him. Soon, though, he would grow tired of it and the mind-numbing puzzles he had to solve.
Tommy kept this gift to himself, not wanting to be brought into a school for powered kids and adolescents, not with a gift that involved dying. He went on with his life, skipping town whenever he noticed he seemed to die more there, learning a few pick-pocketing tricks and street rules along the way.
It seems that no matter where he goes, though, Tommy's gift comes back to burden him. This time, it's in the form of a famous gifted facility known to hold some of the world's most dangerous gifts, and it's in his best interest to make sure they never find out his.
