“Good?” Light asks. Hopefully, it is angry - since he feels absolutely enraged. It is not a state he wishes to be in for this conversation - fury is too dangerous in war - but then, the position he is in is worse than ever, as well. “You think you can be good? Or, what, that you’re meant to be good? Oh no, L. You are a fucking monster.”
Slowly, with no inflection, L asks, “Should I not be?”.
“Do you like being a monster?” Light questions uselessly, angrily. His anger is all he has left.
L tilts his head. “Do you?”

“Light-kun, have you ever heard of the trickster god Loki?”
The question came out of nowhere. Light was laying, blindfolded and arms chained to the side, in a room he didn’t know where, on a bed he had yet to leave, wheezing with every breath, most likely nursing broken ribs. When Ryuk had sold him out (the motherfucker) post Higuchi, Aizawa had quickly lost his cool, and before the policeman had been pulled off of Light, he’d been incapacitated enough to be unable to protest as L said he’d make sure Kira would never kill again.

Kira had been gone for four years, many things could happen in four years. Sayu Yagami is an example of such, she isn't what Light remembers. She's a detective, and working with L none the less. She's different now, she's changed. Hardened, and Light wants her on his side.
Or: a Sayu fic, but she's a part of a task force that L's set up to catch Kira, after a four year hiatus.

Light who was drinking his tea, almost chocked on it and he cleared his throat before looking at L with slight irritation and confusion on his face. "How are you planning to do that?" Light said through his gritted teeth.

K has freed herself from the Hogson Society, but not from her guilt, which consumes her like a virus. She has two choices before her: pursue Hogson for everything they have done to her and her family, or pursue Kira, for what they have done to Bjarne and the world.
Perfectionism and an inability to process her own traumas and feelings will lead her to want to go both ways. But her past will soon show up on the doorstep of the very headquarters where she now finds herself, and she will have to deal with it. Or not.

After dying at the hands of Ryuk, Light Yagami woke up the day before he received the Death Note. Looking at his past actions, he decided to destroy the notebook. Yet, he failed to do so and a new Kira rises to punish criminals, just as he had once before. In order to stop them and all others who would walk the same path, he investigates these serial murders. He takes in an alias, Y, and joins in the cat-and-mouse game of L and Kira, acting perfectly in the middle.
For L, Y is the variable most unknown to him in the Kira case. That is a stretch, he must admit, considering he is dealing with a supernatural serial killer, but he would rather that all mysteries of this case be solved, including someone with knowledge impossible to receive. Someone who sometimes helps with his investigation and, other times, works against him. Someone who he knows is Y but lacks the evidence he needs. Just who exactly are you, Light Yagami?

With criminals dying en masse, the NPA calls in the world-famous detective L to help stop a mysterious serial killer known as Kira. But, there's just one little snag. L already knows who Kira is- himself. However, when L realizes there may be another Death Note out there somewhere, and that someone else is pulling the strings, he accepts the case, hoping to stop the other Kira and hide his little secret.
But when he finally comes into contact with the other Kira, he suddenly has to choose between leaving him for dead or teaming up with him to remake the world.

After being held hostage for years, K, a former student of Wammy's House, finds a way to participate in the investigation of Kira alongside L and Watari, with the secret hope that they can set her and Bjarne free from the criminal organization which has been hunting her down almost all her life. However, she must first make amends for the serious crimes for which the Wammy's House director and star pupil accuse her. What secrets lurk in her past? And which is the role of Nate River in all of this?
This tale, in which several characters are OCs (starting with the protagonist), is an alternative to the canonical investigation of the first seven volumes of the manga, exploring in part an imaginary past of the students of Wammy's House, L's family and origins, and an alternative concept of justice to that of the two famous protagonists. The enemy to be faced is not Kira alone; the successful outcome of the investigation will therefore depend on L and K's ability to come to terms with their past.
The sparse descriptions, the purely dialogic and monologic form and the sudden change of point of view try to echo the narrative style of the anime, from which several scenes are taken.Series

Light could feel tears pricking at his eyes, his body slumped back against the chair. His head was going to split open; he was sure of it. More importantly however, was him. That awful disgusting detective.
L seemed to savor all the time in the world as he slowly made his way around Light, his steps slow with eyes that seemed to widen and dissect every inch of his prisoner.
“Hm, you broke my nose. I think I deserve an apology for that Light-kun, I was simply being friendly you know.”

Summary
Rem wanted Misa's happiness. Misa thought Light was her happiness. Rem thought Misa was delusional. In good faith, she put her trust in L instead to save Misa.
With both Kiras finally caught, everyone assumed everything would be over after Light's execution and Misa's admittance to an asylum for the criminally insane.
Clearly that wasn't the case when four years later, Light is found at Orchard beach by none other than Matt and Mello. It seemed that peace wasn't apart of the equation for L thanks to this new development. Not only will he have to juggle the broken shell that was once Light Yagami - he has to try and keep the ex-Kira out of the jaws of the CIA and other forces who don't appreciate their prized guinea pig slipping out of their grasp.
