Summary
A group of the most elite knights (according to the Director) has been chosen to protect the royals after an accident with a comically large safe-box. The Captain of the Institute suspects that this accident may have been completely intentional, and is set in proving her theory right, to the Director's chagrin.
Prince Ballister shares the theory, and holds an investigation of his own, in secret of course- which maybe would be a lot easier to do if he didn't have a shifting group of knights watching his back at every turn. Just his luck too, that his life-long crush just so happens to be the main leader of said group, but he's nothing but resolute on his self-assorted mission. He's not going to get distracted with Sir Ambrosius Goldenloin's pretty dark eyes and charming smile- (he's not gonna, Nimona).
With the help of his trusty (and destructive) sidekick, he'll unveil the truth once and for all, discovering rather harsh truths about the same Institute that he holds in such a high regard.

Summary
Ballister gasped for breath as he slammed his shoulder against the wall while rounding the corner. He had been running, faster than he ever has before, and as he deliriously made it up the stairs of the apartment building while holding his right shoulder, ignoring the calls for him to stop behind him as he finally made it to the 6th floor.
“Ambrosius! Nimona!” He yelled as he ran down the halls, running toward where his family’s apartment was.
He paused when he looked down the corridor, horror grasping him as he saw every single one of the doors open, and... and there were people... all over the place...
What was left of them, at least. The whole of the walls and floors looked like something...
Something straight out of a horror scene...
But this was exactly what this was, wasn’t it?
That’s what this felt like.

Summary
When faced with something new, the first thing a person does is try to fit into a pre-existing paradigm. They associate the new discovery with something they already know, giving one's self guidelines to how to handle the new thing. While often mostly harmless, this can do a huge disservice to the thing just discovered. They may have to exclude parts of this new thing to fit it into the paradigm. They could also try to expand the paradigm to fully encompass the new discovery, but that can only go so far. Sometimes, you just have to accept that the discovery and the paradigm are incompatible, and start a new one.
With both the Director and the Queen dead, Ambrosius is put in charge of rebuilding the Institute. Nimona is praised as being a Hero, although still supposedly dead. Ballister has been reinstated as a knight, and can often be found helping Ambrosius with his new duties when he's not with Nimona. Outside of them, though, the Kingdom is still in disarray, and uncertainty festers around every corner. It doesn't help that corruption built up over centuries is impossible to simply wipe away. These three Heroes will still have to battle against — and perhaps with — what remains of the Kingdom before.

Summary
If I don't update this in two weeks someone yell at me. I can't have anymore WIPs. I am a one-trick pony and it seems that I only write about sad gay single dads.
Takes place in a universe that is sort of a mix of the comic and movie.
10 years ago Ballister's arm was cut off by Ambrosius the day after the knighting ceremony in a duel. He is let go from the institute shortly after.
In the years that followed this incident, he has carved out a life for himself, without Ambrosius, starting a prosthetic shop with his friend Meredith Blitzmeyer, and becoming a dad to Nimona.
His content, simple life, out of the public eye and away from those who betrayed him is upended when Ambrosius walks back into his life.Series

Summary
Ambrosius Goldenloin detested working in food service.
And it wasn't as if it was just one thing, either.
The mandated, saccharine customer service voice, even when said customer was an unequivocal asshole.
The wretched hours and wretched-er pay, as if tips could ever make up for minimum wage.
The fact that, with all the Gloreth-damned clopens he'd been given as punishment, his complexion was a wreck and his signature golden tresses smelled forever of sour milk.
He was a wreck, and now, for the seemingly millionth time since a 3 am open, he was trapped in the same cyclical conversational hell.
---
Ambrosius chose success over love. That kind of decision always has its drawbacks. -

Summary
Ambrosius has been brutally injured and disfigured in the fight with Nimona. Without the Institution, a reliable body, or even his own self-image, he must adjust to his new reality. Riddled with guilt and after seeing Ambrosius brush so closely with death, being forced to confront the love that never died, Ballister cannot help but to take responsibility over his care. But, with all the anger and despair between them, rehabilitating his body seems as impossible as rehabilitating their relationship. They can only hope that the love that survived between them will be enough to pull them both out of the murky pit of hatred and into the light of trust.

Ballister and Ambrosius try to find a way to move forward

Summary
Ballister was a street orphan when he met Sir Andros ‘Andy’ Sureblade and his undercover knights. In exchange for hot meals, he happily guides them through the inner circles of the underground, helping them take down villains and corrupt individuals left and right. Said villains got wind of Ballister’s meddling and got their revenge. He is found by Sir Andros, who realizes that the only way to get him the necessary medical treatment is to adopt him, as there’s no official documents to his name.
Little Todd is of course livid at first, but all it takes to break his shell is the amputee helping him with his math homework. The two become inseparable, brothers in all but blood.
Ballister, now a very successful businessman and royal advisor (and online heartthrob, thanks to his adoptive child), reunites with a certain golden haired man from his childhood who captures his heart after he celebrates his broken engagement in a wedding-turned-party.

Summary
UNDER REVISION
Bal finally realizes that he’s been betrayed twice: once by the Institute, and again by Nimona. Nimona had deceived him, taken the form of the Director to made him think that he couldn’t go back to the Institute, made them look evil. She’d become his friend— Ballister was sure that was real. But, at the same time, he blamed himself. He shouldn’t feel so surprised. Nimona threw people around like dolls, crashed through buildings, frightened and displaced innocent people— why hadn’t Ballister thought to question the story before? She’d made him distrust Ambrosius— taken Ballister away from him, even. But… hadn’t Nimona needed him more, anyway?Author’s Note: Nimona isn’t a nice, neat, conventional “Good Guy”. But the movie kind of leaves out the nuance of her character, misses out on that part of the original story that might be saying “Good and Bad is a false dichotomy.” Nimona isn’t the good guy, Nimona is a monster girl. I want to talk about what that means to me.
I feel like “Enjoy!” Is not the right thing to say. Read safely!

Summary
Ballister woke to the incessant beeping of machines and entirely too bright lights. Something was restraining him and he yanked it off instinctually, tripping even more frantic alarms.
Almost before he could finish sitting up — fuck, why did his ribs hurt so much? — there was a light hand on his (flesh and bone) arm and he was greeted by a familiar (but bandaged) face.
He blinked and then it all came back. His betrayal. Nimona's suicide attempt. The cannon. Nimona-the-firebird on a suicide run. A million pink sparkles that turned to ash in his hands.
Something dark and heavy — like dread but not aimed at anything in particular — flooded his chest and churned deep in his stomach.

Summary
Ambrosius hadn’t really expected to wake up at all. Through the bloom of pain and rupture, claws and teeth that had torn through his armour like tin foil, he’d thought maybe I bought him some time and at least I did something right for once, and as he’d collided with the wall his last thought before it went black had been damn it, why couldn’t you have let me tell you I love you?
