Summary
Jayce Talis did not shoot Viktor in the commune; instead, he waited twelve years in hiding for the end of the world. He believed that the pain would disappear once he joined the hivemind, yet he awakened in a new timeline, much different from his own. He was immediately confronted by a 25-year-old Viktor, who was already estranged from his partner, Giopara. Talis made a twisted oath to 'save' Viktor from himself in this timeline by kidnapping him and keeping him like a caged animal.
Meanwhile, Giopara encounters the Arcane Herald while in a deep sleep, hoping that Viktor can help solve the mystery of the creature. However, he soon discovers that Viktor is in trouble. The memories of Viktor and Giopara’s relationship seem to be stained with ink in Viktor's mind, as he suffers cruelty from an older, more malevolent version of his former partner.

Death has never been something Jayce has feared the way he was supposed to, not when he's looked it in the eye so many times. He met it's gaze when he was far too young and maybe that broke something in him, eyes that were still so new to the world witnessing something he wasn't supposed to see for many years yet. But it did not claim him when cold clawed at his tiny body. It did not claim him when he teetered over the ledge of an extinguished dream, unable to see the embers still smouldering, nor any ledge he stood on after. It didn't claim him when his body was ravaged by an infection that should have killed him several times over.
It's part of the routine, he supposes; Lamb drawing her bow but never firing.

Professor Pididily suddenly goes missing, and everyone thinks his former pupil Viktor took him. Jayce, Piltover's Defender has to confront his former partner, only to find that the mystery of Stanwick Pididily's disappearance has many more layers to it than he could have ever anticipated.
Pre-rework LoL lore while integrating a few newer things and taking a few artistic liberties here. You don't have to know too much beyond the basic lore or nuthin. I really really try not to let it get too unhinged but I guess the author's notes are there just as a little treat or if you want more elaboration. Or you could kinda see it like Johnny's POV chapters if you've ever read House of Leaves. It's a very good book btw. Definitely better than my fanfiction, but you're here anyway, aren't you?

The version of him who helped Jayce when and how he needed it most? Did he keep his promise to speak to Giopara? Did they work things out? Or did they come to blows? Is he still desperately alone? There is only one way to find out: Time for a visit.
TL;DR: Jayce brings Viktor to meet the Machine Herald and Giopara. They discover that despite ostensibly being the same people, they couldn't be more different. But at the end of the day, their hearts want the same thing.

And he knew, despite everything, Jayce still loved him. But if there was one thing Viktor had learned in a decade of marriage, it was that sometimes love just wasn't enough. And it wasn't enough anymore.
In the wake of a messy divorce, Viktor and Jayce try to tackle the impossible task of co-parenting with the ex you'd rather never see again. And, eventually, learn to heal and find their way back to each other.
