Jesus, he's crying like some sort of reunion trope. Does he know him? Were they long-lost best friends in the past, reincarnated because one of them died or something?
It's the hunter exam for god's sake and while Gon may have no intention of becoming a hunter, comforting a bunch of random crying losers wasn't on his to-do list for the exam.
(Or: How a fake Saint found herself dragged into the mess of the HxH world as the main protagonist Gon Freecs.)
