“Maybe he really has been replaced by a pod person,” Pidge breathes.
She’s started to sound nervous, for all her joking.
“Let’s go find him,” Hunk says, and he can’t hide the urgency in his voice. They both rush down the hallway, wordlessly agreeing to be as silent as possible. They pause before Lance’s bedroom door, exchanging a determined look. Pidge nods, and Hunk carefully turns the doorknob, soundlessly pushing the door open.
It’s dark. The only light comes from the moonlight pouring through the open window, and the small shark-shaped nightlight on the desk. Despite the brightness of the moon, the only thing really visible are shadows and figures.
The lump on the bed, wrapped in the covers, is far too big to be Lance.

“What the hell, man?” Keith whirled on him as soon as he let go of his arm, a spark of disproportionate rage flaring through his chest, but Lance wasn’t even looking at him, his bag shifted over his shoulder as he dug around in the pockets.
He opened his mouth to demand Lance tell him what the fuck was going on when he met Keith’s gaze and beat him to it.
“You’re bleeding,” Lance said simply as he pulled a pad out of his bag and held it out towards him.
Keith’s teeth clacked shut, the words dying on his tongue as his stomach plummeted straight through the floor and he felt all the blood drain out of his face before it came surging back, hot, hot, hot as he was overcome with pure, unadulterated mortification.
Or: Keith gets his period. Lance is there to help.

Summary
Let Keith be the first to tell you that everything they say about college is a lie. Particularly the whole “you’ll be able to choose your own schedule” bullshit because that could not be farther from the truth. In your first couple years, sure, but once you start getting into the more specialized courses in your program? You’ll be lucky if they offer certain classes once a year.
That was how Keith wound up with an 8:30 a.m. measurements lab his junior year of college despite not being a morning person in the slightest. And to make matters worse, they were assigned lab partners by drawing straws on the first day, which was how Keith got stuck with none other than Lance McClain as his lab partner for the entire semester. Loud, boisterous, friendly, attractive Lance, who was everything Keith was trying to avoid.

Keith smirks, a sharp, dangerous thing. He hears Lance’s words, hears the steel hidden in the softness of his tone, his voice promising trouble.
But the Garrison does not know their Red Paladin as well as the rest of Voltron.
They do not know Voltron at all.
All they see are the cadets that left Earth five years ago, children playing pretend heroes.
They are underestimating them.
That is their mistake.
Or alternatively, when doubt is cast on the Paladins” worth and capabilities to be the Paladins of Voltron, the team makes it their mission to prove them wrong. They are warriors, heroes and it is about time the world recognized them as such.
