But these sorts of things are rarely coincidence, and the Web’s not above a bit of gloating. He imagines Annabelle somewhere comfortable, surrounded by her spiders and laughing and laughing because Jon’s so predictable. Jon said his lines, Jon wanted to make a choice so of course that backfired. Stupid Jon didn’t even realize when Georgie took the lighter, when Georgie took his last chance at resistance so there would be no going back. They planned ahead for his betrayal.

It was such a small thing. Small words for a small feeling cloaked in a chintzy veneer of idiomatic dismissal. A trembling little bird cupped in his scarred and battered hands and smothered. Or so he thought. Sometimes trembling little birds turn out to be phoenixes, and those who looked to someone else to hang the comfort of a wise, silvery moon in the sky already have the hammer and the picture wire at the ready.
As far as Jon was concerned, the moon only rose on their Somewhere Else because Martin deigned to pull the strings every night, not him.

The change back doesn't happen….as immediately as one would expect. Yes, the closer you were to the Panopticon the quicker it happened, Peter’s apartment building was close enough to London that he felt it when it changed. It was panic inducing and it was so disorientating he almost fell to the floor as if he had been drunk and it was just hitting him. He saw the tower starting to crumble in the distance.
“Oh” He said.
Fuck, he thought. Its unclear what moves him, if its the slowly dawning realization that soon all the people trapped in their empty and small apartments will start to crawl out like ants crowding the place or that Elias just lost and he is not sure what that means for him, but whatever it is? Peter runs.
He runs to the crumbling tower.
Peter looks around not sure what he was looking for, maybe a body, a corpse to put himself at ease that Elias was truly and once and for all gone. Somehow it did not bring him as much joy as he thought. He had wanted Martin to kill him, yes, but there was a lot at stake and now when the worst has already happened…well, he did not want to lose…
Lose what? Peter was still in too much shock to think.-
