Summary
Steven has had a rough life, for years he has had to fix his mother's mistakes, thinking that he was always gonna be in her shadow. But even when everything was peacefull, he still couldn't move on and accept that everything was chaging. Luckly he had always had his mom, Nova, and all of his family with him to help him cope with all of his trauma.
Now, months after everything, his mother decides to take him to meet another version of himself, and then they all decide to travel to the past???????Oh well, at least his 13 year old self is happy to have new friends. Nothing could go wrong.

“Is there any chance that we’re going to survive this?” Amethyst asked staring up at the hand that was descending toward the place that had been her home for centuries now.
“Unfortunately, yes,” Garnet replied.
It's been years since Homeworld returned to Earth to continue what it had started centuries ago. The last of the Crystal Gems have been rounded up and dealt with. The human resistance is just a small stumbling block. Everything is how it should be.
They didn't know there was still one Crystal Gem out there living among the humans as a human. They certainly weren't prepared for him learning that there was a chance that his entire family was still alive.

“I know Pearl is… alive,” she said.
“But…?”
[.] “On Homeworld, pearls aren’t treated like other gems. They’re made to be servant gems: docile, quiet, weak. Basically everything Pearl isn't, [.] There’s a process where ‘malfunctioning’ pearls can be reprogrammed: stripped of their memories and reset to their original settings. So, that’s what they did, except… You know Pearl. She knew about the reprogramming process and had 1000s of years of freedom to think about it. I’m not sure how it’s done or how she resisted it, but she did. She acted like it had worked for a bit. Had me fooled for a little while. I wasn’t there the day it happened so I don’t know exactly what went down, but I heard a lot of rumors. From what I understand, she pulled out her weapon in the middle of a meeting of a bunch of high-ranking gems. She poofed over half a dozen of them, shattered the one she was supposed to be serving, and put a spear through Yellow Diamond’s leg before she was poofed herself. After that, well, shattering her would have been acknowledging her as a warrior gem, something Yellow Diamond refused to allow for a pearl. But, they knew they couldn’t reset her, so, they cracked her, like what I had, but worse. A lot worse. She’s in a lot of pain. Yellow Diamond keeps her with her all of the time as a warning. [.] She’s still there though and still fighting,” she told Steven. Pearl was poofed a lot. Amethyst wasn’t sure if it was because Pearl kept trying to fight despite being hobbled or if Yellow Diamond just thought it was fun, but she was in a different outfit most of the times Amethyst saw her. Every one of her outfits still had a star somewhere on it. Amethyst had been poofed less often, but every one of hers had also had a star. Homeworld didn’t understand the significance of it, but every time one saw the other had been poofed, their eyes lingered over it before going back to whatever they were supposed to be doing. It was a message. I’m still here. I’m still fighting. I know what we are fighting for.

Amethyst hadn’t been exaggerating when she’d told Steven that Pearl was in bad shape. In fact, she may have been downplaying it to spare him. Her form was all fuzzy, like she was a figure cut out of an old home movie and her visage was constantly flickering like the corrupted gems did when they were agitated. Connie was not a gem. She did not understand exactly how they worked, but even she could tell that Pearl was in a lot of pain

there was Pearl. Her form flickered even harder than usual and one of her hands couldn’t keep its form. Particles fizzed off it like it was turning to dust. One of her eyes was completely white and she was wavering on one leg, the other seemingly too weak to support her weight. Yet, despite all that, her not glitching hand held a spear in the end position of a slashing move and there was a jasper’s gem which settled at her feet with one last clink

"You’re the one who was cracked within an inch of your life a few hours ago,” she pointed out.
Pearl shrugged. “Had worse.”
“Worse than that?”
Pearl peered down at her and she didn’t look sad or even traumatized. She just looked really, really tired. “I was born a slave Amethyst.”

Even if Pearl had a gem cracked so badly she could barely function, she’d still been a rebel and a very important one in the first rebellion. One would think that they’d remember that, but they still couldn’t get over themselves and the system they’d set up to see her as anything other than a lowly, damaged, pearl.
She’d been in ‘servitude’ to Yellow Diamond after their capture, and as any pearl belonging to the diamonds, she went wherever Yellow Diamond did, [.] being a slave had one advantage: to most gems, she was invisible. Pearls were little more than decoration and most gems wouldn’t know Pearl from another of her kind. Thus, they didn’t shy away from discussing all sorts of high-security issues right in front of her.

Pearl knew the routines of all of the gems within the highest ranks and of the gems that served those high-ranking gems. Knowing Pearl, Amethyst was sure it was pinpoint accurate. She reconstructed their routines with incredible detail by use of her holograms and Connie with her human and strategic mind was almost instantly able to point out many holes in their defenses.

“It’s Blue Diamond’s private chambers,” Pearl concluded [.] “The cells would have more gems, jaspers and amethysts, not fused topazes. Those are personal guards.”

“I have something I need to tell you, [.] but I’m not sure if now is the time.”
“I know, [.] I knew the second you became capable of saying the words out loud.”
[.] “Yellow Diamond ordered me [.] It turns out,” she shrugged, “if you can manage to resist one diamond’s order, you can suddenly resist them all.” -

Pearl, of course, masters the human languages faster than any of them.
Rose tries her best, but there’s no way she can keep up; Pearl absorbs information like a starving man, absolutely ravenous for any sort of knowledge. Plus, Rose may or may not have a slight tendency towards distraction. It’s not her fault the animals of Earth are all so adorable.

the thought of those words in the mouth of her Pearl, her prim, delicate, proper Pearl makes Rose feel all sorts of things Pearl would consider vulgar

Pearl, they’ve discovered, has a lot of patience for a lot of things, but if you hit a certain number of her buttons in combination, the resulting explosion of frustration is glorious.

Another one of Pearl’s buttons is stress. Well, probably all of her buttons could relate to stress in some way (Pearl does not handle pressure Well), but there’s a certain kind of stress that brings out the sailor in her, and usually it has to do with not knowing—pardon the language—what the fuck is going on.“We have a plan, right?” Pearl asks in that fake-bright voice that lets Rose know she’s probably terrified. “Right? Rose has a plan. We’re going to be totally fine.”

In hindsight, Rose recognizes that Pearl’s sense of self-preservation is likely heightened due to her years serving the Diamonds. From what she’s seen, Diamond Pearls don’t tend to last too long, even in comparison to regular Pearls. The amount of flinching Pearl used to do is heartbreaking, and Rose understands that she will never quite value life in the way that Pearl does.All the same, Pearl does need to calm down.
“Pearl, you trust me, don’t you?” Rose asks her gently, putting a soothing hand on her shoulder.
“Abso-fucking-lutely, Rose!” Pearl replies with a grin so big her face looks like it’s going to crack in half. If it wasn’t pretty much frozen that way, she’d probably be screaming.
Rose tries not to take it personally.

The truth is, if 50% of Pearl’s buttons revolve around stress, then a good 40% revolve around Rose herself (and the remaining 10% is a horrifying, shatter-dreading mix of the two). It’s sometime around their hundredth year fighting when Pink Diamond comes, and Rose holds tight to her sword on a battleground filled with the stench of death, and Pearl stands rigid beside her.It would’ve been fine, probably. Like, they probably could have made it out of this one with a combination of Rose’s half-decent negotiation tactics and Pearl’s natural finesse. Maybe.
Except Pink Diamond had some choice words to say about her former Quartz; words that involved terms such as ‘traitor’ and ‘abomination’ and ‘human-fucking whore’.
The next thing Rose knows, Pearl is flying towards their enemy with her sword out and screaming, and Rose barely catches what she’s saying, bits and pieces of ‘don’t you fucking say that about her!’ and ‘you execrable, repulsive piece of shit!’ and ‘better add pearl-fucker to that list of grievances, you—you—you maleficent bitch!'
Then Pink Diamond pulls out her weapon, and for a long time after that, Pearl doesn’t say anything at all.

It takes Rose much longer than she’d like to admit to figure out just which of Pearl’s buttons Greg is apparently pushing At All Times. And you know what? Rose thinks things could go a lot worse, all things considered. After a little while, Pearl’s constant referral to Greg as a ‘personified shit-stain’ becomes almost polite. Like, you know, “Hello, shit-eating whore-spawn, how was your day today?”When Greg and Rose announce the Plan, Pearl becomes even more polite. Exceedingly polite. Worryingly polite.
Rose never hears her Pearl curse again.

“Bitch,” she mutters under her breath as they pass the lady who is clearly blind, because Steven is beautiful. Garnet gives her a quelling look, and she sighs. Apparently swearing in front of human children is Wrong. Doesn’t stop Amethyst. Or even Garnet, at times. But Pearl is supposedly a ‘role model’, now, and that means learning to be patient, because at this point, she still sees Steven more than any of them.The years pass, and gradually, they learn how to avoid pressing Pearl’s buttons—in front of Steven, at least

Just thinking of Pearl, the pride in her eyes whenever she'd find him focusing and really working at what she was teaching makes his chest clench. A flash of memory comes, of the few Homeworld Pearls he's already seen on his way to his cell and he's pushing the image aside before he can think on them, on their lifeless eyes and- no.

the footsteps that come are too soft, solitary, and he blinks a few times as one of the Homeworld Pearls begins walking down the hallway, finds himself almost calling out to her, wanting to tell himself that its his Pearl but...He stops himself, bites his lip and knows it isn't her, it can't be. She looks just like all the other ones here, not even her clothes those are all different, Peridot once told him that the Pearls dressed however their owner told them to but, something in the way she moved, or stood, or...something.
He noticed it about the other Pearls when he first saw them, like there was something about them that was missing, in their eyes and the way they talk like they didn't feel anything or...he doesn't know, can't put his finger on it, just knows that it makes him feel cold, to think that the Pearl he knows, so full of life and so smart and kind could have ever...That the Pearls here could all be like her if they were only allowed to be.
But thinking of her, how different she is from them only makes him more scared for her. Would they punish her like Peridot tried to? Treat her bad for being that way?

The Homeworld Pearl stands with both hands clasped around the spear, eyes narrowed and stance strong and Steven hadn't even realized he'd covered his mouth until he tries to speak and feels warm breath against his palms, pulls them away and rasps out a shocked. "Pearl!?!"
She rushes for him, falling to her knees before the bars and reaching through them, half shouting, half whispering his name with tears brimming in her eyes and even though she looks so different, just like one of the Homeworld Pearls, the minute she hugs him as tight and as best as she can through the bars he knows without a doubt its her.

turning to the console beside his cell, unhesitatingly pressing both hands into the data stream or whatever that stuff is, he isn’t sure. [.] he knows Pearl, knows how she is about protecting him and what if she- "Garnet, and Amethyst! We can't just leave them!" Pearl releases a shaking breath, her eyes mirroring the weird stream in her hands and a second later the bars open

Pearl's eyes light up as a panel appears on the stone, the technology unlike anything he saw inside.
The keys light up briefly as she touches her fingers to them, a quiet, melodic tone sounding as she follows a sequence she seems to know by heart and, there's something about that melody that has him shivering, has his throat tickling but he doesn't get to think on it because the stone is parting, just a little, just enough for them to squeeze in before the sound of stone grinding together comes, and the door shuts, surrounding them in perfect darkness.
Pearl doesn't give him the chance to get scared, her gem flickers light into the room, and she holds him tight against her, breathing in deep, slow. When she exhales, her shapeshifted form falls away, and she's back to her old self. "Alright. We're safe, for now. Let’s see if we can get some light in here..." She seems to be speaking more to herself than him, but he doesn't mind it, Pearl likes to do that when she's scared or nervous, it helps her relax. He'd offer to help but it's too dark, and she seems to know exactly where she's going, walking through the perfect blackness with nothing but the light of her gem like she's been here a million times.
...Maybe she has?

"I'm surprised they haven't found it, after all this time..." Her voice is wistful, nearly a sigh as she rubs cool, sticky ointment against the cut while he kicks his feet absently, watching her and lifting his arm so she can start bandaging it. "Your mother used to call this her escape."

He wraps his arms around her, holds her as tight as he can and tries to convey as much love as he can with the hug, of course she had food and water, of course she's Pearl. She's Pearl and she's always so smart and prepared and even though she doesn't need it she has food and water for him and now he definitely won't starve to death on Homeworld and no wonder mom loved her so much.

"These are..." Pearl leans over the console, opening a panel and half of her torso seems to disappear into the opening, her voice a metallic echo from within the mechanism. "A sort of...surveillance system, your mother and I were able to set up. She had access to, well, anywhere she desired and as her Pearl I did as well, which gave us the unique opportunity to plant these across the grounds, if they're even still acti-Ah ha! Here it is!" -

Summary
A mysterious break-in at an underwater lab facility leads to Steven and the Crystal Gems recovering an injured, hurting, and mistrustful Lapis Lazuli, and Steven insists on enlisting his family to try and help Lapis get back on her feet and deal with the loss of everything she's ever known. But with Peridot on the loose playing mad scientist, a swarm of Homeworld robots gunning for the Crystal Gems and any Gem associated with them, Jasper still at large, and evidence piling up that Malachite is still badly affecting Lapis, will Steven be able to help his new friend without exposing his loved ones to a whole host of terrible dangers?
Good thing Steven's loved ones are no slouches when it comes to dealing with serious trouble...

Summary
TIME SKIP AU: Eight years after Steven Universe decided to leave Beach City, he still hadn't found a place to settle down at. In fact- so many things happened within those eight years that the Gem found himself just drifting along with life at this point. Yet, after a series of events that led him to a small-time town in Iursant... Did he find a quaint little tea shop hidden away from the world. Located within mountain ranges, far away from any Gem activities and even to the point where there weren't any Gems in this town either- perhaps finally Steven found himself a place to settle down. Maybe with the help of a tea shop keeper, could he finally heal almost a decade's worth of PTSD and experience what it meant to be in an equally giving relationship with someone who actually could understand what the Gem had gone through.
WARNING: This is a heavy songfic! If this isn't your 'cup of tea' (pun appreciation), sorry! But if you give it a chance, maybe you'd find something fun!
