Instead, all they could hear were frantic chirps, churrs, and whines. They silently inched forward, straining their senses to get a better feel of the situation.

    As they got closer, they noticed with guilty dread that the littler one was not moving.

    During winter, when the twins were just young turtle tots, Blue and Purple got lost in the sewers. One doesn't make it... but they both end up finding their way back home.

He watched as his eyes slowly began to water. The relentless training, the constant correction, and the ever-present demand for obedience and perfection had turned him into a soldier rather than a son and a brother."

We also explore how the Rise family is dealing with the loss of the brother/son/dad.

    The next work is the sequel TBA.

    There will also be some one-shots with in the universe once the main story is done.

    “Dee?” It’s Raph, forever looking like he wants to shrink to perhaps Mikey’s size in his much larger body. “Are you busy?”

    Donnie pushes himself away from his desk, the old, flea-bitten moth chair he’d made Dad lug home two birthdays ago, wobbles and creaks as he spins to face his eldest brother and hops down, adjusting his glasses once he’s planted his feet on the ground.

    “What’s broken?” He asks.

    Raphael, who’d now ebbed himself a few more steps into the room, fishes into his hoodie pouch and shows him the damaged goods.

    It’s Raph’s beloved GameBoy Advance — pink and bedazzled and a one of a kind find on the steps of the thrift store. It’d been in almost perfect condition (the speakers were a bit warbled but nothing Raph couldn’t get past), but now the top part was almost entirely detached from the bottom.

    A partial decapitation.

    Donnie winces and moves forward. “Yeesh. What happened?”

    Raph chews hard on his lip, eyes casted down and he clears his throat before he speaks

    “Raph… might have… sat on it.”

    Leo remembers telling his brothers one night, if he ever dies, he wants to go out with this song. It would be heroic, epic, and would fit his vibe well. Besides, he loved Woodkid, and this song has been one of his favourites for approximately 6 years already! His brothers groaned in unison, making jokes about it, cause why would he wanna go out in such a sappy way?

    Later on though, Donnie looked at him, like... really really looked at him while Raph and Mikey fell asleep next to them. "Don't go away soon" the youngest whispered, patting Mikey's head in his sleep. "As cool as that song would be, we still need you yaknow.”

    Leo promised he is not planning to go. They're young, just barely turned 16, they have a whole life ahead of them. When the time comes, when he is a lot older and less afraid, it would be epic to have a heroic falldown. But, he doesn't want to go yet.
