Thus so Shoukaku, in the end, decides to settle for the next best option and leave it floating in the purgatory of her mind, far away enough from immediate thoughts to give her a peaceful slumber.

There is, she has to admit, a bubbling tension existing between her and Shoukaku for years now. [...] It feels like a challenge everytime they engage in verbal combat, the thrill running up and down her spine with each reply coming out of that insolent girl’s mouth. Anger and indignance are apparent, obviously, but Akagi would make herself out to be a lying wench if she denies there’s no enjoyment alongside the negative feelings.

A grand ball is being hosted by Azur Lane which is one of the many events used to show solidarity amongst the major naval powers of the world. These events are also one of the few times where members of the general public are able to witness the famous ship girls. As their leader, the commander is also expected to attend such events despite his overt reluctance. Luckily for the commander, he immediately finds a way to pass the time of what would have been a slog with a certain someone.
