He almost slips up and falls, but he manages to grip it tight enough to hang for a few seconds, missing the way it creaks under his weight, he lets go of the trunk and reaches for the branch, holding it with both hands and pulling himself up with a huff.
He smiles once he’s up.
He did it!
He climbed the tree! All by himself!
Tommy turns down to call for his dad, to show him how cool and brave he is because he just climbed the tree on his own, no help needed, but as soon as his lungs take the air to shout out he looks down a frail sound escaping his lips as his stomach drops.

He took his hoodie off, prying the mask from his face and he froze.
Tommy could see how the man’s eyes widened, something like panic in his expression.
But he didn’t care about that, he couldn’t breathe, the boss had told him to keep his piglin features hidden, that he was an advantage the heroes couldn’t know of, and now his pointy ears and the tusks that barely poked through his lips were now in the open for everyone to see.
For the heroes to know.
Even if he escaped now, the heroes would find out who he is, after all, there were only so many piglin hybrids in the records.
