Five.Thunder shakes the soil they’re in as if it was an earthquake, and Tommy notes the tiniest, smallest, most subtle of flinches the soldier tries to withhold within his armor.
As small as it is, something easy to miss, Tommy doesn’t.

Tommy nervously takes a step back. He doesn't know where he's headed, but he definitely won't be staying and standing completely vulnerable in the face of a fire-spitting demon like a goddamn idiot.
And he fucking trips because the luck on his side is the kind of luck carried by a student that got wrongfully expelled a few days before graduation (nope, definitely not him, nuh uh).
“Fuck- what the hell?” Tommy rises from the ground. It wasn't long before he noticed what exactly he had tripped on. Or in this case, who he had tripped on.

Technoblade is a fighter. Surviving in this world only by cutting down those around him with little regard for who they are.
It is what makes him useful. And he’s only survived this long by being useful.
His handlers tell him that it is almost as if he was born to fight. The voices tell him that he was.
They tell him a lot of things, but that’s the one that has always made the most sense to him. Fighting has been a constant in his life, ever since he entered this world. It’s only natural that it’s his entire purpose. Techno thinks that makes sense.
Techno doesn’t remember much of before.
Now, he fights. That’s all he’s good for. If he’s not winning, he’s not useful. If he’s not useful, he’s not alive. It’s not the best, but it’s what he’s used to. It’s the mindset that’s allowed him to get this far, after all.
And then the Angel of Death shows up in the stands and ruins everything by caring.

Technoblade is a member of an extremely social species, recently declared sapient, and suffering physical complications due to loneliness. Philza is a member of a slightly less social species, yet to be declared sentient, and generally suffering.
Unwilling to risk another companion’s death in space and too wary to build a crew, Technoblade has no plans to do anything about his health - until he finds a creature in an animal fighting ring who is definitely not an animal.
Technoblade doesn’t trust other aliens, not when they used him as a gladiator and killed hundreds of his people, but this alien isn’t one of them. He’s in the same situation Techno was, half a decade ago.

Summary
Technoblade, after so long of being the "Blood God" and "God of War," had long since grown tired of bearing the titles, and had been longing for a chance of redemption, to rebuild his life. On the right track, this time.
Seeking an escape, he had been able to apply to a high school, and had eagerly waited until he'd gotten his letter.
Accepted, it had read.
He hadn't believed it at first, but he had never gotten the chance to go to high school, and instead had learnt about war and justice and sword fighting and punishments.
So, with research, he set out an outfit for the next day, filled a backpack with all the stuff that the website had said that he'd need—textbooks, notebooks, encyclopedias, writing utensils, and for his specific elective, criminology and criminal justice books; he knew he'd be good at that already, punishment—and gotten in bed for the night.

TL;DR: Technoblade applies to high school in hopes to rebuild his life, the right way, and is eager to go the next day. To make friends, friends that could treat him the way that his family never could, and perhaps enemies that keep him close.

For Techno, pain is part of his everyday life. It's like an old, familiar friend at this point, because being hurt and hurting others is all he knows. He knows exactly how it feels to watch the light leave someone's eyes as they take their final breath, knows the feeling of blood on his hands that never seems to wash clean.
Being a hybrid who’s spent far too long getting passed from one terrible owner to the next, he's learned to follow orders like a perfect little soldier. And that's what his newest owner wanted him for, because surely someone who spent months in a fighting pit would be perfect out on the battlefield.
So he'll keep on fighting until the day the fighting stops, and he'll do whatever he can to ensure that the war ends.
And he knows that there's one way to best do that.
Kill the Angel of Death.
Should be easy, right?
Or an emduo story in which Techno fails to assassinate Phil--Angel of Death and General of the opposing army--but instead of being killed, he gains his freedom and a friend.

Someone was watching them.
“Stand up,” Techno whispered, kicking Tommy gently on the foot to get his attention. “Put your phone away for a second.”
He could see Tommy’s body language shift as his mind processed what Techno was saying, and wordlessly he slid the phone into his pocket. Barely raising his head, Tommy met Techno’s gaze with a hint of fear in his eyes.
Slowly Techno shook his head. “It’s probably nothing.”
Before Tommy could respond, he subtly shifted in front of the kid and looked around. There was no one new in the area that he hadn’t already been aware of, but the feeling was still there. A feeling that could mean many things. It could be someone watching them because they recognized Tommy and wanted a picture, they recognized him and wanted to hurt him, or they somehow recognized Techno.
The last two were the ones he was most concerned about.
Those were the ones where it could get messy fast.

Techno had turned his head towards Tommy. “Civilians!” Tommy tried to convey what he wanted to do, but Techno didn’t seem to understand. “There’s civilians at the top of the tower!” Techno and Tommy were near the bottom of the tower, one more floor between them and the lobby and the outside.
“They aren’t our problem, Theseus, we need to leave.” Techno responded. Tommy’s eyes widened, and he tried to pull away, tried to yank his arm away from Techno, but he was unable.
He was also unable to phase through the other.
“Tech-?” Tommy was confused. He was scared. His eyes were wide, they were wet and watery from the smoke, and Tommy didn’t understand anything that was going on.

The infant had been particularly unhappy with that statement, managing to slip a hand through all his layers to sock the boy in his nose.
He blinked away his tears to grab the free fist with one hand.
“Hey, no!” The boy whined, nose still pulsing from the attack. “Don’t punch me!”
The baby only continued to cry in response.
There was a long sigh.
The brunet resorted to digging through the many layers of blankets in search of a pacifier, or a bottle. He found neither.
The danger of wolves or monsters finding them both only grew stronger. Having no other option, the boy put a hand over the baby’s mouth.
Not one second later, a loud yelp sounded as he drew his hand away.
Hissing in pain, the boy frowned and examined his hand.
Two beads of blood welled up.
There was a pause.
“Wait… isn’t that…?” The boy hesitantly placed his hand back. Sure enough, two fangs pierced the skin of his finger, and the baby held in his arm drank greedily.
“Oh.” The boy said softly, laughing at the realization. “You’re like me!” -

Once he makes it close to one of the branches he lifts his arm up, trying to reach it. He almost slips up and falls, but he manages to grip it tight enough to hang for a few seconds, missing the way it creaks under his weight, he lets go of the trunk and reaches for the branch, holding it with both hands and pulling himself up with a huff.
He smiles once he’s up.
He did it!
He climbed the tree! All by himself!
Tommy turns down to call for his dad, to show him how cool and brave he is because he just climbed the tree on his own, no help needed, but as soon as his lungs take the air to shout out he looks down a frail sound escaping his lips as his stomach drops.

“We don’t have water, you’re safe, Big man!” Tommy added. It was then that the boy lowered his arms, taking a moment to actually look at them. “What’s your name?” Tommy asked, and the boy hesitated. “I’m Theseus, but you can call me Tommy.”
