these two are SUCH sweet works. i read the second, longer fic before the first--i loved how both fics were in each world's donnie's POVs, and '12 donnie's journey in the second fic really got me right in the heart. it's comforting. the first fic's donnie is so worried and so scared and so sad, it was heartwrenching; all the little details of his POV really driving home that this is just a kid who's lost his baby brother. definitely something i ought to reread when i'm in the mood for a cry. there's love in every line.

"She was always praised for being so good at meditating, in truth she would just set her body to the correct position, and walked away from the controls. She would return when she heard splinter or her brothers talk again. Instead of doing what she was supposed to be doing she would hang out in her safe space, her space ship.
She's had this space ship for years, and years now. It didn't mean more to her than her brothers, but it was a great part of her. She first discovered this place when she thought she was a boy, and used it to be a kid with all the things she had observed kids on tv having. She would wish for art supplies, and find them the next time she came near the airlock. With the spaceship she got to be herself, and that eventually led to her figuring out she was a girl named Leah. She couldn't tell her brothers, but that was fine because she could go to the spaceship whenever she wanted, and be a girl."
Essentially Leah's head space gets discovered, and she gets to come out as a trans girl.
TW for dead naming, and misgendering, but only until they find out. Leah's family, and friends are supportive.

Today was a bad day for leonardo. Hes had bad days before and always hides them. He doesnt understand why hes so stressed out, why he cant speak, why everything is just too loud and bright and disgusting horrible textures oh my god- its fine he can hide it. Its just weaknesses!
Until he cant hide and his family finds out. His brothers find out theres something wrong with him. Donnie comes to a conclusion, and explains to him that there isnt anything wrong with him,Hes just autistic, and thats okay.
