Summary
Cloud is the new bassist of Vortex, an up-coming band in the myriad that are competing in the Battle of the Bands. He is blunt & cold to everyone, even his bandmates. In fact, he doesn’t speak much and barely gives anybody attention. But when Full Bloom needs a guitarist real bad ‘cuz one of the members can’t perform, he gets all awkward and clumsy around a certain singer named Aerith.
Yeah, that totally breaks his aloof persona and that’s just what the singer wanted all along.
At times, he’s like a daffodil — sweet, fragile yet resilient at the same time. Ready to embark into something new, clumsily flourishing in her hands as he laughs highly like nobody else ever sees him. In those moments, she wonders why her? What was it about her attitude that made him open up like leaves of yellow daffodils?
Slowly plucking the loose strands of her hair behind her ears and leaning closer with the prudence necessary (if not more than). He expected nothing from her at all and if she had to guess, he would’ve never been disappointed if she rejected him.
But she could never oppose him.

Ruby Liu is a hardcore FF7 fan who also freelances as a programmer. After one fateful night, she is forced to enter the world of her beloved game and finds a new world both familiar yet unfamiliar. Apparently her old fanfics have become Gaia's cancer, brought about by the wrath of an old resident Summon thought lost to time. And to top it all off, she's drawn the ire and intrigue of Sephiroth, who seeks new purpose for the realm lovingly dubbed the Debug Room and even bullies her as a de facto editor in this new story of Gaia.
But the Rulers of the Outer Realms are always watching. Order must be preserved, lest the ancient wars of cataclysm resurge.
(Rewrite of FF7 Original & Remake where game mechanics, sidequest lore, easter eggs, OG concept drafts, and even the game's code may be integrated into the plot. Cloud is a full-time student, part-time employee at Seventh Heaven. He's wrapped up in grieving the death of his mom, even after so many years, not wanting to move on and forget her. On the 9th anniversary of her death he buys her flowers. He does every year, but this year he chooses a flower shop close by. They keep running into each other - or, more accurately, Aerith keeps noticing him and going out of her way to say hello. Cloud can never turn down a conversation, even though he's not much of a talker. He never found himself very friendly, but she seems to think more of him.
[This fic is written in FIRST-PERSON; most chapters will be Cloud's POV, but there are intermittently Aerith's POV chapters!]

She decides to continue to accompany him, even on his journey to defeat the legendary Sephiroth. What comes after is a story of love, mystery, grief, and friendship.
