Yet another Archival Piece making its way from the Swilly Vault! My inspiration for this work was the canon "Black Rose/Bad End AU" side story "A World Forsaken". There, we learn that Cid, Nero, and other Ironworks employees survived the Black Rose catastrophe because at the time, they were in The Burn, doing maintenance on the magitek field generators at Seiryu's Wall.
This story relates a little incident that happened during that maintenance expedition—specifically one that involves an aetherosolar-powered Magitek pylon and a magpie. However, it doesn't necessarily have to happen in the Bad Ending AU (and it contains no spoilers about "A World Forsaken"). It's just a funny, cute story and nothing horrible happens, pinky swear! 😇

Collision of Our Souls is a mature reinterpretation of Final Fantasy VII in the psycho-sexual lens, focusing on the repressed sexuality of FF7 (Homoerotic and otherwise). The story has appropriated VII's premise, story and characters but has been manipulated by me to be viewed as an original piece rather than fan-fiction.
Original characters have been reshaped and renamed while others have been reborn as new identities. Cloud has evolved into Kashni Rain - an ex-SOLDIER who has been missing for five years. He suddenly resurfaces in Sector 6 suffering with terrible anxiety, he is haunted by the Devil on his shoulder and as he stumbles through Proto-Lavandar [Midgar] a Mako Reactor blows up in the far distance erupting chaos and triggering a deep and scarred memory within Rain.
Who is the Devil on his shoulder? Why has Rain reappeared after five years crippled with anxiety and a repressed personality? Why did the Reactor explode seemingly by itself? Who and what has diverted from FF7? Take a look…

Cloud is a full-time student, part-time employee at Seventh Heaven. He's wrapped up in grieving the death of his mom, even after so many years, not wanting to move on and forget her. On the 9th anniversary of her death he buys her flowers. He does every year, but this year he chooses a flower shop close by. They keep running into each other - or, more accurately, Aerith keeps noticing him and going out of her way to say hello. Cloud can never turn down a conversation, even though he's not much of a talker. He never found himself very friendly, but she seems to think more of him.
[This fic is written in FIRST-PERSON; most chapters will be Cloud's POV, but there are intermittently Aerith's POV chapters!]

Diveh Tia doesn't remember anything between the time he left home and waking up in an Infirmary after the Battle of Carteneau. He answers the call for adventurers after living in Lost Hope for five years, hoping to make some coin. Until he meets the Scions. Then his world is turned upside-down and more than just money, glory, and fame come his way.
EDIT: After many years (since 2020), all the writing for Diveh in the future has been forestalled because he's changed a lot as a character and I kept trying to force him into the mold I'd written and posted already. Ultimately, this fanfic is for me, and so I have decided to re-write this story. I have kept the bulk of it so far, but have edited a lot to bring him in line with who he should have been in order to make him who he is now and thus will be posting updated chapters as they are re-written.
Hopefully this will get the juices flowing for the second story - it already has a lot written, but has been stalled for so long because I was trying to stuff him in a box he didn't fit in anymore. The new content will be a bit darker, and the romance that will happen focuses way more on Diveh and Thancred (because nothing ever goes as planned).
