Summary
After the betrayal of his uncle at Ba Sing Se, Zuko cannot change his mind. It is too late. Destiny has cast him in another role. One just as necessary to the renewal of the world, but burdened with guilt and suffering. In this new role, Zuko continues to search for love and honor, and perhaps even some redemption, even as he is driven to the extremes of the Fire Nation's decadence and cruelty.
First, Zuko must return to Caldera city, to the life and people his father so easily ripped away from him. Among them, one of the few faces that remain from his happy memories. Mai, who was once his betrothed. She has changed. She is older and colder, with hurts of her own. Perhaps with her, there can be some respite from what he must do.
