Summary
EARTH, WATER, AIR and FIRE. Sokka, the first born son of the Southern Water Tribe Chief, couldn't recall a time of peace between all Four Nation's. With the Avatar gone, vanishing when the world needed him most, hope was lost amongst the outer reaches of the world.
Recently, the Avatar returned from his slumber, as an Airbender named Aang. With three others, he roamed the world in the hopes of mastering all four elements before the arrival of Sozin's Comet. The last day before the Fire Nation took the world by storm.
Just when the group of four thought that their luck might turn, Aang was injured, and Sokka had vanished. As Aang recovered in the abandoned Western Air Temple, Sokka found himself in a very precarious position abroad a Fire Nation ship.

Summary
Zuko is born with the full moon shining on him; he doesn’t rise with the sun like most firebenders. It hurts to bend his fire like he’s been taught to, but his flames lick over his skin without burning him.
(They all called them Bastards; the illegitimate children of more than one element. It’s a new phenomenon, in the scheme of bending history. Nobody mentions that with each people the Fire Nation decimates, more sects of the so-called Elemental Bastards pop up.
The spirits cannot just wait for the human race to start regaining balance by choice, not after a hundred years of fire crawling across the landscape, so they’re slowly taking back and filling the smoldering gaps that have been left behind by the Fire Nation.)

Summary
There, in the too-large bathroom of a club that Sokka doesn’t even particularly like, is where it hits him. For all his parties, for all the people he’s surrounded by, it seems to Sokka that Zuko is completely alone.
He's supposed to be getting information, supposed to be avenging Suki. But all he's doing is realizing that the rich kid who once seemed so untouchable is just as damaged as the rest of them.

Ursa leaned against the wall, tilting her head up and swallowing hard. “Zuko… Zuko, My Love, I’m not bringing Azula.”
Zuko’s eyes widened. “You can’t… She’s your daughter!” He exclaimed.
She nodded slowly, eyes shut. “She would report us. You know that as well as I do.” He did know that. But it still didn’t make sense.
“You’re going to leave your daughter,” Zuko repeated. His family was flawed, but it was his. That was his sister.
“I’m going to leave my daughter,” Ursa repeated, voice cracking. Tears pooled in her eyes.

ABANDONED FIC IM SORRY After Zuko and Sokka had returned from Boiling Rock, Sokka is trying to help include Zuko in the group. As he gets closer with Zuko he starts to learn more about Zuko's hard past, and his fears. As they are working through the war, he finds himself caring more about Zuko than just a friend, and wants to help Zuko understand that he is not alone. He has friends, family..and he has Sokka.
