Summary
It’s increasingly clear that Copia is not needed as Frater Imperator. The Psaltarians and the clergy have the whole thing running smoothly, and he is left haunting the Ministry like the ghosts only he can see. He hasn’t even met his brother yet and he begins to think he never will.
So in the middle of the night, he leaves. He tries to live a normal life, the kind he never had raised in the Ministry. He's good at his new job, and maybe, just maybe, he can figure out what it's like to create his own future.
But his peace is interrupted when he finds that his reclusive neighbor is extremely haunted--by their past but, more pressingly, by very loud, very angry, very literal ghosts that don't much like Copia, either. And while he's trying to deal with that, his brother shows up looking for him...

Kylo Ren has long since grown weary of space, of his duties, and of the extraordinarily irritating General Hux. All he needs is to be on solid ground for a few precious hours, preferably away from his generals and anyone else whose face he has seen repeatedly for the last six months, and then he could resume the hunt for his uncle without going stark-raving mad. He decides he needs a port-call and that means that the stormtroopers are allowed one, too, although Kylo can hardly imagine they would manage to scrounge up any entertainment in the barren sands of Jakku.

“The Resistance would never trust you enough to agree to negotiations,” she told him after a few minutes.
“It is fortunate, then, that I have no intention of negotiating with anyone. I will graciously offer up their General, and the Resistance will return my wife in exchange. There are no other options.”
Well, he could also kill them all and take his wife from the top of a hill of corpses…but that hardly needed being said. Besides, he was fairly certain that option wouldn’t endear him to his runaway bride. For this to be clean, he needed a fair exchange to occur.
He could see her starting to panic, her eyes darting around the corners of the small, stark room as she searched for an answer. She knew as well as Kylo did that the Resistance would do a lot to get Leia Organa back. Even sacrifice one of their own.

Her heart twists a bit upon seeing this cat up close. An old scar curves down its little face, barely missing its eye before it slips down to disappear under its chest. Rey doesn’t think she’s ever seen such dark irises on a cat before: chocolate brown, nearly as dark as the pupil in the low light. Like this cat was birthed from the night itself.

[The scar] crept up from under his collar along his neck, and her eyes traced the length of it. The part that disappeared under the thick, dark waves covering his right eye was still stitched closed with fresh black sutures twisting deep into his skin. He must have been split open to the bone.
Whatever happened had hurt, in more ways than one, and that hurt was reflected now in the way his lovely mouth dropped open in fear and how horror darkened the one eye fixated on Rey’s face.

Summary
Rey certainly never expected to become the sole inheritor of her caretaker's farm and lands, but then the Reverend Luke Skywalker was always known as something of an eccentric. After a life of belonging nowhere, and of being a nobody, it is a welcomed change.
The sudden reappearance of Luke's purportedly long-dead nephew is a slightly less gladdening development, by comparison, but Rey could at least use an extra pair of hands for the winter.
As for the rest of the man, she will have to find out.
