It started on an evening like any other. Master Warden Palamedes Sextus and his cavalier Camilla Hect were in their quarters, reclining on their bed. Technically, it was Palamedes’s bed. Camilla’s bed was in the small adjacent room, but she had slept in it only very rarely in the five years they had occupied the Warden’s Quarters.
On this night—a very average night—they were on their bed, both masturbating. Some people might say it was strange to masturbate while lying next to your platonic best friend, but those people just didn’t understand true friendship like Camilla and Palamedes did.

Sometime between finishing his master's degree and starting his new teaching job in upstate New York, Castiel had given up on pursuing any type of committed relationship. He may have grasped how humans interacted and formed social bonds in a theoretical or academic sense, but that was a far cry from actually understanding how to put that knowledge into practice. Dean, thankfully, seemed to be on the same page. For the first time in a long time, he had a good thing going for him. He was living somewhere other than his car, had enough side hustles to put a bit of extra money in his pocket, and had sworn he wouldn't let himself catch feelings for a hook-up ever again.
That goes about as well as expected.
