Summary
The truth was, yeah, Shane married Ilya, but he’d married hockey first. He married hockey the second he signed his rookie contract with the Metros, and his courtship began long, long before. And his marriage to hockey wasn’t like his marriage to Ilya. Hockey wouldn’t ever love him back. Ilya wasn’t going to chew Shane up and spit him out at some nebulous point after he turned thirty and before he turned forty, his joints busted and his mouth full of dentures and his brain fucked to hell and back. And that marriage—his first marriage—had always come before his second, illicit shotgun wedding.
It wasn’t ideal, maybe, but that was just how things were. Hell, it was probably the same for Ilya, too. The fuck was Shane supposed to do about it? Nothing, nothing, nothing. He liked his life just the way it was. He didn’t want to do anything different. He still doesn’t. And that’s the worst, most shameful part of it all: at the end of the day, some part of Shane will always wish he could wind back time like adjusting a watch; erase that Instagram post before it ever hit the internet and go back to the life they’d had before; the life that was slowly killing them both.

Shane and Ilya are champions. They are partners, and they’re in it for life. And people are starting to notice.
After being traumatically outed two years ago, Shane and Ilya's relationship and their lives have been fundamentally changed, and most days, Shane thinks that's a good thing. But sometimes, the pressure of being out, and the endless online speculation about #hollanov, and rumors running rampant through the NHL, and a new generation of rookies looking up to them, and the knowledge that everyone is relying on Shane Hollander to be perfect at all times—sometimes it's a lot.
But Shane's dealing with it. Ilya seems happier than he's ever been, and Shane just needs to get his act together to support his husband. He can do that. He needs to, and he will, if he doesn't crack under the pressure first.
They've got a second Stanley Cup to win, after all.

His hands swept over the firm, cool body. There were too many places to touch, too much to hold all at once. He could feel his blood moving on the inside, as if something in him were coming alive. The blood tingled under his skin as Spike sucked hard kisses into his neck. “You,” Angel sighed, “are ruining my whole plan.”
“You sent me two bloody inches away,” Spike breathed into his neck between kisses. “If that's your best plan, we're fucked, Angel.”

Summary
The death of Drusilla triggered events that Buffy nor her friends could have ever predicted.
Spike loses the center of his world, Angelus loses patience, and Buffy Summers loses the right to believe this war ends cleanly. What follows is not a story about redemption or justice, but about what happens when ancient monsters decide that death is too small a consequence for betrayal.
Angelus does not seek justice, and he does not offer mercy. What he offers is correction. With Spike at his side, bound by grief, rage, and a bond neither of them fully understands, Angelus sets out to reclaim what was taken; not by ending the Slayer’s life, but by reshaping it. There's just a tiny bit of magic floating around after Willow ends the Will be Done spell, and it turns the resident captive vampire into a duckling. And he's so adorably angry about it. Question is now... who's going to take care of duckling!Spike? Oh, it's Buffy, of course.
But Spike being a duck doesn't mean everything else goes away. He's got a new perspective, and over time, so does Buffy. Changes to Season 4 grow as time goes on.
I'm sure someone's written something like this before, but I got the idea and here we are. The plot also started to happen, and now I can't stop it.

It's the end of the world (or LA, at least) but it will probably be fine. What's left of Team Angel meets up with the Scoobies and try to save the world, but everyone sure does have a lot of feelings, huh? It's a shame, apocalypses would be so much easier to thwart if we didn't have those pesky feelings, but I guess that's just, like, the law of the universe or something. Oh, right, and there's still some dumb prophecy to worry about, too.
