Adora's attention is immediately drawn away from Glimmer and toward the owner of that voice. Standing there in the door frame is none other than Glimmer's date.
Adora's stomach instantly does somersaults.
Of course the woman Glimmer brought home is here too. Of course she's stunning. Even in the dark, it's clear she's got sharp features and bright eyes to match her unreasonably attractive voice. She tilts her head to the side as if she's still trying to make sense of what she's witnessing. Right, she's taking in this horrifyingly humiliating predicament.

Determined to somehow adjust to life as an amputee, Adora is ill-prepared for the world that awaits her.
That includes the struggles that come with relearning how to move around, the social pain of trying to interact with strangers, and falling flat on her face in front of Catra, Glimmer’s positively stunning fuckbuddy.

Of course, she fought it and said no at first, but come on, this is Korra. Her stubborn, hard-headed “will never, ever take no for an answer” Korra…she knew she was doomed from the moment she first looked into those annoyingly clear blue eyes. But whatever, this was her best friend and if she’s happy, Asami’s happy. She’s been in love with Korra for nearly a decade now anyways. Summary
Adora, anxious to get a fresh start after the death of her parents and twin brother in a car accident, moves to the small town of Bright Moon. She’s far from happy about it and just wants to forget about her ongoing complications from the accident, graduate, and get out again.
Catra is just as desperate to get out of Bright Moon herself. Stuck in a house with an emotionally abusive mother and keeping a lot of secrets, Catra knows that the only way she’ll ever feel okay is if she gets the hell out. After a string of awkward encounters, both are perfectly fine with keeping a mutual avoidance policy in place.
But then the first body is found, and Catra and Adora are thrown together in grizzly circumstances where one thing is certain.

She snorted. “Please. It was not. You almost drowned!” Her denial was met with an arched eyebrow.
“You doubt my word?”
“I doubt your ability to be serious.”
With a shrug of acquiescence. “I suppose that’s fair,” she mused quietly, slowly walking towards her. “But I assure you…” Catra came close, dangerously close. “I’m quite serious,” she crooned.
Adora smiled. “Why was it the best day of your life?” She only closed her eyes when the other woman traced fingers down her cheek, enjoying the volts of electricity that seemed to pulse along her skin where Catra touched her.
“The day I met you?” She could feel her pulse in her ears as they twitched, her throat running dry. She gripped what remained of her courage and continued. “The day I met the love of my life? How could it not be the best day?” Catra held her breath for just a moment before continuing on. “Adora… you do know that I love you… right?”

Summary
It's been eight years since Adora left Weaver's group home, leaving her best friend Catra behind as well. Now Adora finds herself living in Whispering Woods, a quiet country town in the middle of nowhere. A peaceful and quiet place where she can heal, or so she thought. She wasn't the only one who decided that living in a small town was a good idea. Catra owns the only bar within a thirty-mile radius along with co-owner Scorpia and it doesn't help that the only thing that makes Adora feel any better nowadays is alcohol. Adora keeps the last eight years of her life under as much wraps as possible and Catra still hides some of her own secrets.
This is a bit of a role reversal in a way. Adora is the one who struggles emotionally while Catra is the more stable one in their shared adulthood.

At the thought that crossed her mind Korra's expression dropped. “Asami…are you cheating on me?”
“What?!” Asami’s eyes were wide and her voice incredulous as she grabbed her chest and stepped back in shock, like the very words sent a bullet threw her heart. “NO! I would never do that!” She was appalled that Korra would even think such a thing.
“I know…” Korra’s shoulders sank and her eyes lowered dejectedly. The thought passed as soon as it came and Korra knew it wasn’t even worth entertaining. It was stupid and she didn’t even believe it herself, but she was at her wits end. “If it’s not that then…what is it? What’s wrong?!” Korra hung her head in defeat and felt tears welling in her eyes. All the fight had left her body and was replaced with a deflating, crushing emptiness.
Voice watery and barely above a whisper she asked, pleading for an answer. “Why don’t you want me?”

What to do about the possibility of more magic-based worlds that were converted to weapons by the First Ones - or the possibility that Horde Prime was smart enough to make a backup of his consciousness? And the most important question of all - will Catra and Adora ever be allowed some alone time to explore their newly admitted love for one another?
COMPLETE as of 2020-09-10: Written as a sort of "Season Six", this story covers the post-war fallout, a long space adventure to find and destroy Prime's backup consciousness, a slow-burn exploration of what a Hordak redemption arc might look like, and lots and lots of Catra/Adora character study, hurt/comfort, fluff, and occasionally smut. There are some violent action scenes, but no character death.
