The Clone Coalition.
A galactic, militaristic, anti-corporate, terrorist organization comprised entirely of self-governing, genetically enhanced, and cybernetically augmented human clones.
This young faction has scoured the galaxy for a decade, purging entire galactic sectors of gross corporate exploitation and abuse. Some see them as heroes for their benevolent achievements and focus on the greater good. Some see them as monsters for the inhumane brutality with which they employ against their opposition. Yet, all agree that almost nothing is known about them other than that they emerged from the corpse of a corporate conglomerate that held an iron grip on an entire star system.
Scout C-357-009, a year-and-a-half-old Scout Clone and the ninth iteration of the C-357 Clone Line, had been assigned to investigate a former planetary dumpsite for anomalies of potential corporate origin.
After a series of mind-numbingly boring assignments that has left him insanely restless, he thought this assignment would just be another waste of his time.
But nothing in his short, uneventful life could have possibly prepared him for what was waiting just below the surface.
If only he knew...

Somewhere nearby, something exploded.
A misanthropic recluse who was quick to settle down and abandon their hopeless mission into the caves is forced out of a listless cycle of sleeping and hiding when a landmine goes off mere meters from their life pod. They can't just leave someone to die, right?
So they take action. And then they do it again, and again, and again, and hey, where did all these people come from? Why does everyone think this is some kind of charity, that they LIKE being helpful or something?
This story is a dark but ultimately hopeful exploration of C-PTSD, survivor's guilt, and empathy fatigue. It's about a fake demon who learns to be a real hero and finds a family in a deep, dark pit. There will be a lot of improvised medicine, gritty survival realism, and difficult, often bad, decisions. It WILL have a happy ending, and it's also pretty funny, I think.

The research scientist Dr. Gregory Hayfield sneaks onto a life pod for "purely work-related reasons" and is accidentally launched towards the Gray Planet along with a Milky. The man has no love for the Milky or its kind but knows that without their help, the [Unknown]s of Experiments on the planet will kill him through attrition and numbers. Gregory quickly comes up with a plan: convince the Milky they were both chosen by the company as an elite duo meant to complete the Cargo Retrieval mission and stop more Sawians from being sent to the planet.
The Milky doesn't realize just how dangerous their podmate is, yet.
Neither does Gregory.

A Milky with a supply abuses the trust of an hopelessly addicted, opiate-starved and painfully alone Experiment to form a partnership of sorts that sees them descending through the caves of the Gray Planet together... With the Milky decidedly in charge. To him, this is only a question of survival. Experiments are stronger and more resilient than Milkies are, but not half as smart. By dangling a steady supply of morphine over the weepy Experiment's head, this Milky can secure control over someone stronger than him for protection and, eventually, companionship. An Experiment is better off with a Milky holding his leash anyways.
The relationship is surprisingly symbiotic. The taller, more athletic nature of the Experiment makes him a natural frontliner while the Milky can hang back with a bolt-action rifle. They're staying safer and making it farther in these caves than either of them could have ever dreamed of doing on their own. But is it really something that can work without the blackmail?
That's a question that the Milky can't stop asking himself as his relationship with this Experiment progresses. Is he a bad person for doing this? And can the Experiment ever forgive him if cured of his terrible addiction?Bookmarked by Dabyrro
