Tommy's heart is trying to pound out of his chest. He can't win this. He knows that. But he can't just give up. This isn't like that first meeting. The Blood God is aware and conscious, not lost in the drive of his instincts. The Blood God would probably enjoy taunting Tommy if he curled up and showed his fear so blatantly.
No, Tommy isn't going to take this lying down. He will not go gentle into that good night. His eyes narrow. He sees The Blood God tense.

None of the national, standardized tests were supposed to happen this month and even being two minutes late to one of those wouldn’t elicit this sort of reaction. They were discussing their career interest forms today, but that was it. Nothing time-critical was supposed to be happening.
“Midoriya, you were reported missing a week ago. No one has seen you for eight days. The police have been combing the city for you.”
"I’m sorry. What?”
Midoriya Izuku went missing for a week and turned up in a back alleyway with skills he's never even heard of and no memory of how he came by them. He resigns himself to never learning the truth of what happened to him, but he shouldn't waste this chance should he? He could become a hero with reflexes like these.

A warm hand cupping their cheek. A quiet voice telling them it’s time to get up, that breakfast is ready, that they’ll be late for school if they don’t hurry. They stretch. They complain. They roll over and steal five more minutes under the blankets. Somewhere in the house, plates clink and something warm sizzles in a pan.
That’s what normal mornings are supposed to be. Izuku doesn’t remember the last time he slept without fear.

Ever since he was very young, Izuku has been used by the Hero Commission for his healing quirk. Instead of attending school or growing up with a family, he spends his days healing critically injured heroes and enduring repeated experiments. “I dunno mate, you should ask him,” the Captain said, a little faintly. Tommy’s row of primary feathers twitched under his beady gaze. In his mind, his instincts were shouting at him: showneck showneck tuckfeathers tucktuck, asking him to submit, and he visualized beating the thoughts back with a machete.
“He’s tiny,” the phantom chimed. “He could have slipped through the air vent.”
“Hey,” Tommy snapped, voice hoarse from the stress. He shut his mouth immediately. Talking back to capturers/potential torturers was stupid, what the hell was he thinking?
The phantom brightened. “Oh, Phil, he bites! Can we keep him?”
The Captain—what kind of name was Phil?—glared. “No.” Then his eyes flicked to Tommy’s wings. “… Maybe.”
Or: Tommy just wanted to commit crimes and get bank. SBI see a small, shiny avian and immediately break 13 intergalactic codes to claim him.

A blur of reds and mahogany streaked passed him, but the figure only paused for a moment before he rounded on the golden wolf. Tommy had barely managed to dodge Techno’s first lunge. There was no way he’d be able to do it again.
