Summary
It was just. Too coincidental for Starscream not to be suspicious. Megatron announces his plans for an inter-faction tournament, an idea, he claims, came to him only after hearing the Construction's reports on the renovation of the Pits a few days prior. One that definitely had nothing to do with a certain argument he had with Starscream that happened the previous day.
Right. Sure.
But Starscream could overlook all of that - albeit with a healthy dose of skepticism and doubt - if it weren’t for the victor’s reward.
Or,
On a Decepticon-ruled Cybertron, Megatron decides to host faction-wide tournament with a rather heavy-stakes prize on the line. Starscream is not too keen on this idea for several reasons.

He isn’t on the list; they can’t rip him apart as his traitorous frame deserves. That doesn’t stop Tarn from coveting Starscream for his collection. He is, after all, an extremely important artifact in the history of the Decepticon cause.
They’ll have to argue about poetry instead.

Optimus Prime struggles to cope with the pressures of guiding post-war Cybertron. Megatron notices. Megatron wants to help.
