Summary
Something goes wrong. The crown is split during Narinder's defeat, splitting the power between him and the Lamb.
Narinder keeps a portion of his godhood, and the Lamb finds that abilities they had access to before are no longer possible: Healing is cut short. Powers are halved. And there is a very real chance of perma-death, as the ability to resurrect is not possible without full power, and the God of Death is not cooperative.
Afterlife and Purgatory are not options either. Dying means erasure. Gone.Lambert knows Narinder grows stronger by the day, crown or not, and yet keeps him spared as they try to figure out how to complete their own goals. Narinder vows vengeance on the lamb for usurping him. After a few unsuccessful murder attempts, he's in for the long haul. It is only a matter of time before the Lamb's guard is down before he can strike, and The One Who Waits is very patient. When a mystic being demands they save the bishops from purgatory, an alliance is in order.
Except...the lamb's actions and their presence begin to unlock abilities within the God of Death he didn't know he had prior to his imprisonment, among other fickle things, like emotions. The prophecy didn't warn him of that part.

Dazai has his back to the door. Chuuya is waiting for him, he’s staying put, he locked the door to keep people out instead of Dazai in, he’s being patient, but one look at his face and the brunette knows immediately that this will only happen once, and his ex-partner will spend tonight crying at the bottom of a bottle if he leaves.
Again.
The thought appears and promptly nails itself into his head. He didn’t want to leave Chuuya four years ago, he hated it, every day he was tempted to go back for Chuuya, only for Chuuya, and damn the consequences. It was only Odasaku’s dying wish, that Dazai now recognises as a plea to save himself from his own destruction, that kept him away. But no one is laying bloody and dying in his lap this time, asking him to go (– go, please, save yourself –).
So, he stays.

Dazai's recollecting his old days. The little story of his frivolous romance with a certain poet named Chūya.

Summary
The world in which Chuuya live is colorless and boring in both the literal and figurative sense.
The clouds are always gray almost black and it seems impossible that even a ray of sunlight could get through them.
The trees had all lost their leaves and were just dark brown trunks, hinting at something that hadn't been there for a long time.
There is no living green grass growing on the ground, it is just cold, black earth.
The only source of light far and wide is a town several kilometers away from the woods.
The inhabitants there are always beaming with joy and always seem happy when Chuuya watches them from afar.
It always makes him feel so lonely it's like he's in the middle of a group full of living beings where everyone is happy and content and he's the only one who feels like he's in the wrong place.
(or a God Chuuya X Kitsune Dazai in which Dazai makes Chuuya feel human.)

He won't apologize either.But he won't be so cold to Dazai today, because no matter what, the fact is that even without plans and calculations and predictions, Dazai moved on instinct earlier to block the shot to Chuuya's head with his own hands.

Scenario eight-hundred-sixty-five will be the final one, he promises to himself.
He just hopes he’ll be able to keep it.
