Boromir was holding the Ring on its chain in his hand. Gold shone red under the weak sunlight, and his thumb swept over it with an odd tenderness. There was a strange light in his eyes.
“What are you going to do?” Pippin heard himself ask.
There was silence for a moment. Then Boromir laughed, sudden and loud and defiant in the still air. He turned and knelt down, and Pippin fought the urge to step back from the wild, angry joy in his face. He kept very still and did not flinch when Boromir took him by the shoulders.
“My friend,” Boromir said, the light red on his face and his eyes gleaming fey. “We are going to bring back the sun.”

All people and creatures had emotions; it’s a natural born thing. Scientifically natural. If it were ever even doubted to have been true, it would’ve been clear at that moment of their error. There was always joy: darling and light, over perhaps a newborn babe, or a warm meal after fighting through coldness unbearable. There was sadness, who’s draining yet welcoming embrace pained yet also comforted those who felt it.
All emotions and more, absolutely unaccountable in the measures of effect of all thinking and living. Or not all living. Those of descent of cold, freezing and bloodlust felt it too. Emotions enraptured everyone; no matter what the selected one may be. Yet the strongest emotion, one that could drive even the most holiest of men into a spiral of destruction and despair, seemed to be the most powerful of all. And as the pale elf, slowly twiddling his fingers, nails sharpened and fangs taking a rest, it consumed him even then. Hatred. Unrestrained and never ending Hatred.
Hatred for what he was, hatred for his bloodlust, hatred for all things sweet and joyous. Yet above all, one thing that seemed to capture most of the hatred in his head, was not one many would see as a problem.

PREVIEW:
The only pleasant thing she recalled was walking along the shore, her feet bare and her skirt hoisted up. Her chaperones followed far enough behind that if she looked up and listened to the sound of birds, she could pretend she was alone.There were no beaches here, only endless grass, and woods from time to time. Lonely. Cold. Bleak, even in springtime. But in Dol Amroth, the sun was always high overhead, warm as a gentle pair of hands, and the sound of waves a rhythmic rustle against the shore. The sand was soft as down under her feet, and the water balmy as a lukewarm bath.
Sometimes, she was even allowed to swim, though the process of assembling guards and finding a secluded spot was an uncommon hassle.
She would not be going back there now. The bathtub was her only sea, the copper sides her only shores.
