Out of something like curiosity, Xue Yang used his bare hand to run down the front of Xiao Xingchen’s chest. “Ah, Daozhang.” He sighed. “Your skin is incredibly soft.” He muttered, near seconds away from drooling into the bath.
Xue Yang smoothed his hand over the side of Xiao Xingchen’s body. He told himself he was washing the unconscious man and stopped only when he noticed Xiao Xingchen’s breath had become heavier and somewhat uneven.
“Daozhang?” He asked, taking his hand from the water.
Xiao Xingchen’s head turned to the voice in alarm.
He was awake!

Arthur turned around to face his captive. "Be this," he gestured at Merlin broadly. "Be defiant, brave...stoic...all the time. It's painful to watch."
Merlin did not answer. Arthur sighed.
"Just...just...when that door closes, when we reach the end of the day. Just allow yourself to relax for just a while." Arthur tried on a small smile, holding his palms up in a gesture of surrender. "I promise I won't tell anybody."

It has been a thousand years since Arthur died. In the modern age, Merlin passes the days by maintaining Camelot's castle and healing the sick. He spends each night at the edge of the Lake of Avalon, awaiting a man he fears will never return.
But of course, Arthur does return - to a world he doesn't recognize. Merlin must help him adjust to modern society before it is too late. Arthur struggles with his past and his destiny, along with the new world that he has difficulty making sense of.
The world is in peril; a modern plague, climate change, and war threaten the existence of any future. Magic is dying, with Merlin being the only sorcerer at full power left on earth.
