From the corner of her eye, Hera noticed his fingers twitch, and for a moment she imagined slipping her hand in his, but she stopped herself. Delusions like those would only make her eventual departure more heartbreaking.
Instead she blocked the sun's blinding light with her head and gently stroked a hand down his cheek.
"What would I give to live where you are?" Hera sang to him ever so softly.

He looked dead serious when he spoke. "Hera this saber belongs to you and only you." He chuckled. "I'm just borrowing it."
"What?"
He closed her palms around the saber. "The jedi used to say that your saber is your life, and well, you are my life."
She stared down at the weapon in their hands. "But why give it to me? For what use?" She asked quietly.
He leaned in so their foreheads met. "Because I need to know you'll be safe if I'm gone." He replied in a low, yet soft, voice.
She looked back up at him. "Kanan-"
"Please." He whispered.
She tightened her grip and gave him a soft smile. "I'll learn how to use it, but it isn't mine."
He grinned as they returned to their earlier position. "We'll see about that."

Mira makes another noise. “You want me dead.”
“Oh my god,” Zoey laughs, rolling her eyes again. “I’m going to move Rumi over to your room so I can finish whatever hell she was working on,” she continues, keeping her voice quiet. “You know you’ll get bitey if you have to hear me typing. I know you hate hearing me type.”
“I would never,” Mira grumbles, “The headache is fucked up and awful.”
Zoey grins, nodding her agreement. “Yup, it sure is. It’s such a shame they haven’t invented medicine that makes headaches go away. I wonder when someone’s gonna, like, get on that, huh? I’m sure it would sell really super well.”
Mira practically growls at her, and Zoey can barely believe that she still has the ability to argue right now when she’s literally face-down dying. But Mira has always been stubborn, so maybe it shouldn’t be that surprising.
“You do hate me and want me dead,” Mira says, with such seriousness that Zoey actually cannot believe her ears. “Just say it, Zoey. I can take it.”
