He understands and he can relate to the torture Reginald Hargreeves put his siblings through after he disappears, even if they claim he never could.
He knows because he went through it too.

Ghost had always known that the Na’vi were big. It was perhaps the greatest point of intrigue for their species to those who knew little more than side-by-side comparisons. The Na’vi were massive in theory…but it was an entirely different topic to tackle when one was staring directly at where Ghost lay in hiding.

Ghost came to Pandora to die amongst unseen stars. He didn't care for his Avatar body - the body Tommy was meant to pilot before he died - he just wanted rest.
Unfortunately, after his transport crashes on the surface of Pandora leaving him stranded, he's forced into wars he swore off when he left active combat. The Na'vi are brutal, but they are not unkind as they pick up the broken pieces of him and remind Ghost...His heart is warm so long as it is beating.

Mikey’s looking at him. His eyes are searching, scanning him up and down, like a watchdog. Donnie’s in the middle of getting to his feet to work, and he can’t possibly open up to him. It’s stupid. Irrational. Deplorable.
Donnie offers back a pathetic grin. “I’m fine.” The words are quick, seamless. Mikey smiles something bright at him, the answer giving no one anything to think about, nothing to consider. Mikey is busy, busy like Donnie is, and he can’t bring himself to throw another thing onto the youngest brother.
He feels his shell pounding. Flesh ticking like clockwork. There’s no pain, not yet, just brass bright growing stains in his flawless techwear. No one notices.
Good. He’s got a lot of work to do.

Luffy, Zoro had added in his mind, as Mihawk continued to list the users of this haki. He had never seen Luffy use haki before – not in the way Mihawk had described it, with black limbs and striking power but…
I am the man who will be King of the Pirates, Luffy said, says, and it’s not a promise but a will, and Zoro knows – knows that of anyone Zoro has ever seen, Luffy is the one to have the Haki of the Conquering King.

Doflamingo killed Luffy during their fight in Dressrosa and rejoined the left-behind Law to his crew. Law is apathic after Luffy's death to the point where he's totally useless to the Shichibukai and the puppeteer decides to 'cheer him up' with a doll of the deceased Straw Hat pirate. Slowly, Law projects his feelings for Luffy onto the doll and escapes his jail with it. Inspired by a fanart and a doujinshi - both given in the notes.
