Confusion furrows Three’s brow. “What’s the sweater about? Didya just get really into the holiday spirit this year, or what?”
Ves laughs, bright and sparkling, and tugs at the knit fabric. “You should see Two’s.”

Vessel knows he’s a good musician—one part early and frequent childhood lessons, one part natural talent, one part ancient deity—but he’s never had a desire to build up his skill set with a drum kit. It’s a tall ask when Vessel is a perfectionist with a dash of control issues who comes as a package deal with a demanding god riding shotgun in his body. It’s been a long search with many false starts and rejects. An utterly exhausting endeavor, and he's got nothing to show for it.
It’s complete happenstance that leads Vessel to his drummer.
Sleep's Second is so much more than a drummer. He's the piece that Vessel's been missing all his life.

In 1985, Armand wiped Daniel Molloy’s memory and left him to live his best mortal life. Six months later, he left Louis with every intention of sleeping until Daniel was gone from the mortal world. He hadn’t anticipated Louis’ insistence on being a martyr and revisiting his foolish interview in 2022. It is truly a rude awakening for Armand to wake to countless vampiric voices calling for Daniel’s death.
Armand didn’t work so hard to keep Daniel alive to let Louis get him killed now. He’ll have to come to grips with being face-to-face with a version of Daniel who is thirty-seven-years older and dying one way or another.
For his part, Daniel is trying to make sense of Andrei, the vampire fanboy who is now acting like his worried shadow, saying stuff Daniel can’t quite wrap his mind around, and feeling so goddamn familiar.

He peers down the street and sees a post office, a couple of small shops, and a pub. The difference between the city where he has an apartment and this village is stark.
Sam comes out of the shop nearly ten minutes later with a cardboard travel container of drinks. He laughs at something someone inside says and IV wishes – gut-wrenchingly – that he had anything left in him that could feel the way Sam looks right now. He feels like a husk of a person, and he wants – he wants that.
A man follows Sam to the threshold of the entrance and says something to Sam that IV can’t quite make out as he opens the car door. He keeps the shop door open with a cocked hip, and IV sits up to get a better look at him.
IV, burned out from his corporate job, visits his friends for the summer in the idyllic village where they live. He's expecting to get his head put on straight, not that he'll find love in the last place he expects it.
