Logan’s aware of his reputation; a man of few words and fewer emotions: a killer, a weapon. Ruthless, drunk, and mean.
It’s hard for him to think that he needs to shake this reputation, because so much of it is just so true. He is a killer, he is a weapon, and while he’s trying hard to break the cycle, a lot of the time, he is a drunk.
The one thing that’s wrong though?
Logan feels. So much. He feels all the time. Wishes desperately that he could stop feeling. After all, why would someone with no emotions need to drink until they fell down?
But the world - well, his world - saw him as some pathetic nothing, and it’s hard to shake a reputation that you feel is keeping you safe. Besides, there was never anyone around who cared enough to want to see Logan for who he truly was. There was no one left worth burdening his emotions with.
Until.

He doesn’t know if he could bear it, if he’d survive just one more voice echoing in his skull.

Summary
Stede loses all hope of a better life after serving on a “real” pirate ship with his crew after a failed attempt to get back to the Revenge. He’s a changed man with scars and flinches that were never there before, but he's at least a competent sailor and fighter now.
Blackbeard's barely hanging in there, holed up in his cabin more often than not. He's even been banned from going on raids after an incident that left Izzy Hands frantic to come up with one last plan to try to save his captain. When Izzy finds Stede on a raid, he takes him back to the Revenge to try to get Blackbeard back.
Blackbeard hates Stede, but he still wants him, and Stede still wants him too. They come to an agreement that brings them closer together while keeping them bitterly apart. Two broken men muddle through their past experiences and heartbreak, picking up the pieces and slowly coming back to life as they come back to each other (while Izzy and the remaining crew members try to help).
