Obi-Wan closed his eyes in acknowledgement. When it came to Anakin, the boy was never far from his mind, and definitely not after the scene earlier. Or the rejection that had caught him off-guard. He was used to Anakin snarkily welcoming him back whenever he returned from his trips—early or not—but there was always a glint of relief in his eyes, gratification from his unwillingness to be apart from Obi-Wan for the rest of the day.
He was like a standoffish cat, pretending not to care but offended when not paid attention to.
Obi-Wan adored him; his very own perfect, bratty sub.
Except Anakin couldn’t be his sub.

It’s nearing the end of his shift. Only two more days to the ER rotation. Dennis is beginning to see the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. Starts to feel the clean, crisp rays of freedom, he could almost reach out and feel them lapping at the tip of his outstretched hand.
But then, he takes a sharp turn, his foot slamming oddly against the floor. He’s on his way to see a patient, a young girl, is about to sign off and tell her mom pedes has a room for her. But he probably stepped wrong, each next step he takes marred by a dull throbbing pain that shoots up his right leg and sits in his hip.
He gets a brief spell of dizziness, followed by a shock of goosebumps racing up his arms. The overhead lights in the hallway are scorching his eyes, and when did it get so cold in here? And why was the floor spinning, and getting so close to his face?
And that was the last he remembered before everything went dark.

Batman didn’t sleep; he didn’t rest, nor did he take breaks. He didn’t acknowledge his injuries, his weaknesses, or his limitations. Batman was the night, and the night is relentless, unforgiving, unstoppable.
Bruce, on the other hand… he didn’t sleep, he didn’t rest, nor did he take breaks either, but he desperately needed to. Clark couldn’t do much about that. He couldn’t very well force the man to take a nap (even if sometimes he wished he could just push him down on a flat surface, effectively close his eyes, and order him to sleep). What he could do, however, was ensure Bruce kept an adequate energy level, the kind of energy level that allows a human being to stand upright, walk, talk, and generally survive life with minimal discomfort.
He… fed him. Clark fed him whenever he could.
The situation was not spiraling out of control. He could very well handle things, and “acts of service” was not Superman’s love language. It was not.
Or:
Five times Clark brought food to Bruce and one time he didn’t have to, but he did it anyway.
