Eddie’s mouth flaps like a fish, clearly shocked, which Steve is deeply satisfied by, “you’ve known for...you know? You knew? You already know? How do you know?” Eddie’s surprise is genuinely comical, and nice to see since it’s almost over done and that’s more like usual Eddie.
Steve sighs, “it really, really wasn’t hard to work out. You are not a subtle guy Eddie-”
“And what the hell does that mean?” Eddie snaps back, clearly affronted.
Steve stands straight, and without missing a beat lifts his shirt up to his armpits. Eddie’s eyes immediately, hungrily, rake over the newly exposed skin. Steve waves a hand in front of his own torso like a magician revealing the trick, and Eddie turns bright pink and starts sputtering, “that’s not- I mean- you can’t-” but he’s glaring at the floor, chagrined and caught out, and he knows it.

Summary
Eddie made a strangled disbelieving noise, expression flickering. “You are not apologizing to me right now, for like, feeling a normal way about stuff. I can’t believe you.”
Steve pushed a shaking hand through his hair. His heart rate no longer in his ears meant he felt he could at least think a little more clearly. “Maybe it was the heat. Doesn’t always have to be something messed up, right?”
Eddie gave him a placating nod. “Sure, heat exhaustion is a helluva thing.”
It had been happening a lot recently. The… forgetting. Zonking out. Whatever. He was pretty sure he was just extra exhausted, it had been a few weeks since everything but it might have just been the adrenaline or something finally wearing off. Sometimes it was like he just forgot someone was speaking, or couldn’t remember for a moment what they’d been talking about. Like blinking out of a fog maybe.
It does not get better, in fact, it actually continues to get worse.

Summary
It's supposed to be a simple drug deal. Eddie's used to those. What he's not used to is Hargrove offering him Steve Harrington as payment. As Eddie gets caught up more and more in Hargrove's abuse and struggles to make things better for Harrington, Steve is also struggling with isolation and self hatred. When the Upside Down crashes into Eddie's live, Steve and Eddie meet very different versions of each other. While Eddie is slowly but surely falling for Steve, he has no hope of Steve forgiving what he did and even if that happened, surely he wouldn't reciprocate Eddie's feelings. Or will he?

Hargrove loops Eddie in because he recognizes Eddie's hanky and what it means. Eddie, in an attempt to protect Steve from a worse fate, participates.
When Billy dies in the mall fire Steve doesn't know what to do with all the hurt. He wants Eddie to hurt him but Eddie refuses. So Steve finds safety and recovery with Eddie's friends in the queer/bdsm community in Indy, and with Robin.He's finally decided to talk to Eddie but the plan is derailed when Chrissy dies in his trailer.

Eddie had started walking to Robin’s house in the mornings to hitch a ride when Steve took her to school on his way to Family Video. It was a neat little route from Steve’s place to Robin’s to the high school to the store, and Robin lived halfway between Eddie’s place and the school, so the ride cut his journey in half. Steve wanted to offer to pick Eddie up from his place but, unlike the rest of the carpool arrangement, it didn’t make sense, spatially, and Eddie said he didn’t mind the walk, and Steve was too embarrassed to insist.

Waiting kind of impatiently, to be honest, even though it’s not like he has anywhere else to be because Robin’s busy tonight and, as he well knows by this point, saving the world doesn’t get you a girlfriend or glory or even a second age-appropriate friend, it just gets you another evening shift at Family Video and a long personal to-do list.
In the spring and summer of 1986, Steve Harrington contends with the biases of the day, hatches several plans, and finally really gets to know Eddie Munson.

Steve pulls up to just outside the garage door, then cuts the engine.
He turns in his seat.

“See you around, I guess, Harrington,” he spits, beginning to limp away.
Steve is so startled that it takes him a moment to get his bearings.
“Hey!” he calls, scrambling out of the car. “Hey! Where are you going?! You can barely even walk!”
“Home,” Eddie snaps. “And I’m walking because apparently I’m the only one who doesn’t deserve a fucking ride.”
“Oh, for the love of-,” Steve mutters, then runs the couple of hobbled steps that Eddie has managed to put between them, grabbing his arm to spin him around.

Incredible, grounded, authentic, road trip slowburn.
The relationship developed from rocky friendship, to close trusted friends, to falling in love, to staying in love through thick and thin, and it was absolutely beautiful.The epilogue is an extra story all on it's own and it completely knocks it out of the park! Heart rending story of weathering the storms and growing old together. I cried.

A dead dog, dead deer, Tommy H.’s dumb face on the Hawkins Post along with the world’s most dishonest obituary, saying what a stand up guy he was, and a credit to the community.

Sure, they've saved the world, but the best part of that really is that it doesn't end there and in a town where everyone thinks he murdered a girl, he's at least got Steve Harrington and Robin Buckley. It's really not his fault he accidentally starts living at Steve's house, he was invited, after all. There's a mystery too, about Barbara Holland and Steve's pool.
“Your boner is digging into me,” says Robin, and Steve snorts a tired sort of laugh.
“I don’t have a —”
“You do, I can feel it. Gross.”
“Okay, but it’s only a little one,” he says in a small voice which sounds like he’s impersonating someone.
“Are you ever going to let that go? I peed a little bit when the Russians got the torture devices out, okay?” She sounds amused, though.
Eddie jolts. “Russian torture devices?”
Robin carries on like she didn’t hear him but Steve catches his eye and he’s grinning. “How do you even have a boner dude? You were definitely having a nightmare I know your twitching means a nightmare… Did you have a boner over Vecna?”
