Lestat rolls his eyes. “You want to stop me. You can’t.”
“Oh, I will.” Armand finally makes eye contact with Lestat, in his unnerving way, that makes it feel like he’s looking directly into your soul.
“And how will you do that?” He opens his arms, palms-up. “Tie me down, shove a stick of dynamite down my throat? Cut my head off, set me on fire, like you did with the Old ones in the catacombs?”
“All good ideas, only it would be a shame to kill you,” says Armand. “I only need you out of commission long enough to miss the concert. A beheading would do it, I’m sure. You would survive, of course, long enough for re-assembly, but I cannot say the same for your child.”
Louis looks from Lestat to Armand and Daniel, utterly confused. For once, it’s Lestat wearing the half-blank, half-apocalyptic expression.

Louis shrugged, not taking his gaze off Lestat. “Was thinking of staying here a while. There’s business in town. It could be like-“ he paused, taking a breath, thinking quickly – he didn’t wanna pressure Lestat, didn’t want it to seem like he had any expectations, just wanted to make sure he was okay - and what came out of his mouth was: “like roommates.”
After Louis discovers Lestat’s relationship with Gabriella, he can’t very well leave him alone in his Montréal apartment. So he pitches one of the stupidest ideas he’s ever had: for them to be roommates.
It doesn’t go as smoothly as he’d like: after all, they haven’t lived with each other in almost a decade and the last time they did, they were also together. Louis finds it increasingly difficult to pretend.

“Mr. du Lac,” the boy says, tongue curling over the consonants and in his voice, Louis thinks, home. The thought is unsteadying, which makes Louis’ defense system instantly come up. He’s supposed to be in control here.
It’s probably the French, he knows. He doesn’t get to hear it often here in LA.
After their previous one quits without a proper notice, Louis caves and hires another au pair for Claudia. He expects him to fail. Lestat has other plans.
