Summary
When Albion’s need is greatest, Arthur will rise again.
Fourteen hundred years after the dragon’s prophecy, Merlin’s magic is fading. He’s starting to age. Yet this is the moment he finally finds Arthur, returned, reborn… and imprisoned in his own home, after car accident a decade earlier left him with life-changing injuries.
What use will these two broken warriors be in the hour of Albion’s greatest need? More’s to the point, what is Albion’s greatest need? No one (including Merlin’s crack team of reincarnated friends) seems to know.
Meanwhile, out of sight, a corrupt government and a wicked uncle scheme and plot. At the same time, in the deepest depths of Albion’s soil, the omniscient threads of an ancient magic call. They call to Arthur’s altered mind. They call to an ailing Merlin.
Their message is simple. For Albion to survive, Merlin and Arthur must thwart the biggest heist in history – no matter the cost. -

Summary
Merlin is new to Camelot, and he often gets lost. Sometimes he sees things he shouldn't. But he's not an idiot. He'd never tell anyone, except maybe Arthur. And one time, when he's very upset, Gaius.
As far as Arthur is concerned, Merlin is an idiot. He doesn't understand how anything works in Camelot. Arthur finds it hilarious, until he overhears Merlin confiding in Gaius. Which leaves him with a terrible dilemma, and one burning question: who's the idiot now?

Athelstan and Ragnar discuss religion, and take their friendship to a new level, while the impending threat on Athelstan's life hangs over them like a dark cloud:
They sat for a time. Close as brothers. Close as lovers. The shadow of a soaring bird crossed the ground at their feet. When Athelstan searched for the bird in the sky, it had already gone, like the very last cloud disappearing distantly over the fjord.
Into that vast blue, Ragnar spoke softly. “I want to have sex with you. I want to be your slave.”

Arthur snatched his sword up from the ground, rolled back onto his feet and lunged forward quickly to bring the point to Merlin's chest and keep him away. "Stay where you are," he said and Merlin stopped, his eyes going wide in panic.
